This week at The Kaleidoscope Club, we created masks. A timely reminder that we all wear them. Some protect us. Some hide our pain. And some help us step into a new part of ourselves. As we celebrate Halloween, we’re reminded that transformation often begins when we take off the masks that no longer serve us the ones built from fear, shame, or expectation. Underneath it all, there is always something true, something whole, something waiting to be seen. Happy Halloween!

“Because it is your purpose to give love anyway.” Dr Drake reading one of his favorite parts of his book, The Way of the Butterfly. He reflects on one of life’s deepest truths, that love is not a reward, but a calling. Even in pain, even in mystery, we are transformed when we choose to give love anyway.

Let this be your reminder today:
No matter what you’re facing, there is beauty in continuing to love, through the uncertainty, through the hurt, through the becoming.

Every day, 135 people in this country lose their battle with despair. At The Drake Center, this is the heart and soul of what we do, helping people rediscover their connection to life, purpose, and hope. Our work goes beyond treatment.
We walk beside our clients as they heal, rebuild resilience, and rediscover meaning for life.

Art therapy helps us access what words can’t. Through creative expression, clients communicate emotions and memories that often live beneath the surface. By engaging both the left and right hemispheres of the brain, art therapy promotes balance, integration, and healing.

Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all and that’s okay.
Therapy might not be the right fit for everyone. Medication might not work for everyone. What matters is knowing there are other options that can help you find peace and progress. At The Drake Center, we help clients explore a range of innovative approaches to healing. From mindfulness to art to K3t@m1ne-assisted therapy — so you can find what truly works for you.

October is D0mest1c Vi0lence Awareness Month, and healing after abvse is a journey that takes time, compassion, and courage. At The Drake Center, we believe that practices like mindfulness, movement, and creativity can help survivors rediscover their confidence and sense of self. Healing isn’t easy but with the right support, it’s possible to rebuild and feel whole again.

We can’t rewrite the past. But we can choose to seek help, to grow, and to find peace within ourselves. Remember: just because someone’s life looks perfect on the outside doesn’t mean they aren’t quietly falling apart inside. A little compassion can go a long way.

Healing from trauma means learning that what happened isn’t happening anymore. For many survivors, the mind replays moments of pain like a broken record — keeping the body in a state of fear long after the danger has passed.
At The Drake Center, we help our clients find new space to land — where their memories no longer control their present, and peace begins to return.
