Myth: Contacts can last longer if they still feel fine.
Busted: Contact lenses have an expiration on your eyes, not just in the box. Even if they feel comfortable, they’re designed to be thrown away on a schedule.

Daily contacts = toss them every day.
Bi-weekly contacts = replace every 2 weeks.
Monthly contacts = replace every month.

Overwearing lenses allows buildup of proteins, bacteria, and debris that your eyes definitely don’t want hanging around.
When in doubt, throw them out. Your eyes deserve fresh lenses. 👏👁️

Your makeup routine might be sabotaging your tear film… and you don’t even know it.

When applying makeup, pay close attention to:
• Your waterline: Lining the inner rim can block the tiny oil glands (meibomian glands) that help create a healthy tear film. When those glands are clogged, tears evaporate faster → hello dry, irritated eyes.
• Concealer placement: Packing product too close to the lash line can migrate into the eye and mix with your tears, disrupting their natural balance.
• Mascara wands: Pumping and overloading the wand increases bacteria and debris that can flake into the eye, leading to inflammation and unstable tears. The wand itself can also be a problem! So be safe with it.

Your tear film is delicate. It’s made of three layers that work together to keep your eyes comfortable, clear, and hydrated. When makeup interferes, you may notice burning, watering, blurry vision, or that gritty “something’s in my eye” feeling.

Beauty tip from Dr. Boone: Stay just outside the lash line, replace mascara every 3 months, watch out for the wand touching the eye itself, and remove makeup gently every single night.
