Get your blood pressure checked at least once a year and understand what the numbers mean. Severe high blood pressure combined with symptoms such as chest pain or trouble speaking may be a hypertensive emergency, according to the new high blood pressure guideline, and you should call 911 immediately.

Good evening. I wanted to address GLP-1 medications.
Every Provider in our office is able to and does prescribe these for diabetes and for obesity.
The biggest obstacle is insurance coverage.
Please contact your insurance company to know and understand what they pay for, how much your co pay is and anything they require of you for coverage.
Example #1 They cover Mounjaro for diabetes, you are not diabetic. So that’s a no.
Example #2 They cover Wegovy for weight loss but your co pay is $750 , you can’t pay that, you can ask the pharmacy or me if there is a savings card available.
Example # 3 You are Diabetic and they cover Ozempic but not Mounjaro. Ozempic it is!
Lastly, they will cover Zepbound if you enroll in their get fit program. That’s a great idea!
Please understand that it is not me refusing to help you. Insurance dictates this for you and for us.
Also, please know that no medication comes without side effects and we will discuss those.
They are not a magic solution, the key to success is to cutting back on your carbohydrates and sugars, increasing your protein and water and doing some form of exercise. We will also discuss these at your appointment.
