For rural hospitals, even small inefficiencies can have a big impact.

When staff are juggling multiple systems or dealing with complicated workflows, it takes time away from what matters most—patient care.

That’s why improving EHR usability is so important.

Better-designed systems can:
✅ Make workflows faster and more intuitive
✅ Reduce administrative workload
✅ Help clinicians access the right information at the right time

The result? Less frustration for staff—and better experiences for patients.

Learn how MEDHOST is helping turn friction into efficiency:

Improving EHR usability isn’t just about convenience; it’s about enabling better care, improving efficiency, and supporting long-term sustainability

“You are never too old to set another goal, or to dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis

Janis Ferguson has spent more than 30 years building a career centered on learning, growth, and helping others succeed. As a Sr. Instructional Designer at MEDHOST, she brings both experience and passion to every course she creates.

After joining MEDHOST in 2017, Janis focused on developing engaging eLearning experiences that are easy to use while supporting how adults truly learn. She’s driven by those “lightbulb moments”—when learners gain confidence and new skills click into place.

One of her proudest accomplishments includes designing a course for a newly developed role that led to higher customer satisfaction scores and more confident employee interactions—clear proof of the impact thoughtful training can make.

Janis is especially connected to the Harris Values “Understanding and Learning” and “Communicate and Share Knowledge,” which guide her approach to both her work and her continuous curiosity.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, learning new things, and singing.

We’re proud to spotlight Janis and the meaningful impact she brings to MEDHOST.

When disaster hits, rural hospitals don’t just face the storm—they face added challenges like limited IT staff and infrastructure.

That’s why disaster preparedness isn’t just important—it’s critical.

Hosted EHR solutions can help by:
✅ Backing up patient data securely offsite
✅ Speeding up recovery when systems go down
✅ Keeping communication and care coordination intact

By taking the pressure off internal teams, hospitals can stay focused on what matters most—patient care.

Learn how hosted EHR is helping rural providers stay ready:

To strengthen resilience, many rural providers are turning to hosted electronic health record (EHR) solutions

Every action adds up—especially the ones we don’t always see.

This Earth Day, we’re recognizing the everyday choices and behind-the-scenes efforts that help reduce waste, improve efficiency, and support more sustainable healthcare operations. From small process changes to larger initiatives, it all contributes to healthier environments for the communities we serve.

This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” is a reminder that progress happens through collective effort—one step at a time.

At MEDHOST, we’re committed to supporting organizations with solutions that help simplify workflows and make better use of resources.

Thank you for being part of the bigger picture.

New regulations are changing how prescriptions are written—but they’re also creating an opportunity to improve patient safety.

Today, providers are expected to:
✔ Check prescription monitoring programs
✔ Use e-prescribing for controlled substances
✔ Access more complete patient medication histories

When these tools are built directly into the workflow, clinicians can make safer, faster decisions—without added complexity.

At MEDHOST, we’re focused on helping healthcare organizations turn regulatory pressure into better care.
