Please join us in welcoming Dr. Virginia Vanegas, General Dentist.

Dr. Vanegas is a warm and compassionate dentist dedicated to providing excellent care to her patients.

She earned her DMD from Roseman University and recently completed advanced training through East Carolina University’s clinic in Sylva.
She’s bilingual in English and Spanish and has participated in several mission trips providing dental care in Latin America.

Outside the office, Dr Vanegas enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and spending time with family.

We’re excited to have her join our wonderful Franklin team.

Frontier turned our phones back on today. That being said we are still having some issues. If you get a voicemail that says Legacy Dental then we should be able to get that message. If you are still getting the the old message we are not able to retrieve those.

The Melzer family has proudly repurchased the practice originally founded by Dr. Melzer, and we’re excited to reopen our doors. We’re honored to continue the tradition of compassionate, high-quality care you’ve come to trust. Even more special, Dr. Jamie Melzer, Sr. will now be leading patient care with the same dedication that has long defined this practice.

As a tribute to Dr. Jamie “Doc” Melzer and the incredible legacy he leaves behind, we will be changing the name of the practice from Appalachian Dental Associates to Legacy Dental Associates. We hope this new name honors his lifelong commitment to this community and the many relationships he built over the years.

To know Dr James Melzer, Jr, was to love him.

He was a huge Seminole’s fan and a constant prankster who took delight in scaring his unwitting staff on an almost daily basis.

Each morning he could be found in his office, his loyal assistants filling him in on the first patients of the day.
He was our source of knowledge and wisdom and could be relied on to spell any word we needed help with. He was calm and patient with any patient lucky enough to sit in his chair and could be relied on for a good joke most days.

To say he will be missed is an understatement. To his staff he was a brother, the captain of our ship and a dang good dentist.

Rest in peace Doc. We know you will be planning one heck of a prank when we all finally get to meet you again.
