The Refuge Center for Counseling

The Refuge Center for Counseling We exist to offer excellent, accessible, and affordable mental and emotional healthcare services.

The vision of The Refuge Center is to make sure that every individual and family had the opportunity to seek therapeutic resources, regardless of income level. There are few opportunities for affordable counseling in the area, as many local therapists charge $90-$150 per session. The Refuge Center offers therapy to those who can not afford these fees and bases their fees on a sliding-scale based on income that ranges from $25-$125.

Artificial intimacy doesn’t replace human connection. It prevents it.

AI doesn’t solve loneliness. It makes it tolerable enough that we stop doing the difficult, vulnerable work of reconnecting with real people.

At The Refuge Center, we believe healing happens through authentic human connection, not artificial intimacy. We exist for those who want to become more human, not less.

Throughout Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to help people rediscover what it means to be truly seen, known, and cared for by other humans.

Comment “Connection” and we’ll send you the research we’ve gathered on digital intimacy and its growing threat to human connection.

Your brain has the ability to learn, adapt, and heal — and Neurofeedback helps it do exactly that. This advanced intervention trains the brain to operate at its highest potential and has been shown to benefit all ages. Many clients notice enhanced brain functioning and symptom reduction within just 20 sessions. From anxiety and ADHD to sleep issues and PTSD, Neurofeedback supports a wide range of mental health needs — and it’s available on a sliding scale. Ask us how to get started. 🧠

We were so honored to present the Hope Grows Award to this year.

A clinical psychologist, New York Times bestselling author, and trusted voice in leadership and mental health, Dr. Cloud has impacted millions through his work—including books like Boundaries and decades of guiding individuals, leaders, and organizations toward wholeness.

In his acceptance, he shared something powerful—he wouldn’t be where he is today if a therapist hadn’t made care accessible when he needed it most.

That’s the heart behind everything we do at Refuge.

We exist to be the bridge—between those who need help and the healing they deserve, regardless of what they can afford.

Because access changes lives. And sometimes, it changes everything.
