“One of the most surprising things about coming to The Refuge Center is that what brought me in the door isn’t necessarily what’s kept me here. What brought me in was the immediacy of the loss of my father and the grieving process. But what’s kept me coming back is the holistic approach — asking, ‘How would you like to grow in your mental health?’ and 'What burdens might be holding you back?’”
— Jacob

Jacob came to The Refuge Center carrying the weight of grief. What he found was care that looked beyond the moment of loss — counseling that invited growth, healing, and freedom from the burdens holding him back.

‼️Listen up, people pleasers‼️

You can’t, won’t, and don’t have to please everyone. Like Eric, check in with yourself first, then go and help others.

“Oh, I can help with that!” We are so grateful for Julie Weaver and her family, who were one of two families who generously donated towards the water feature on our back patio. We could not do what we do without donors like them seeing a need, and doing what they can to see it fulfilled!

Our Story

The vision of The Refuge Center for Counseling, located in Franklin, TN, is to make sure that every individual and family had the opportunity to seek therapeutic resources, regardless of income level.

There are few opportunities for affordable counseling in Middle Tennessee, as many local therapists charge $100-$170 per session. The Refuge Center offers therapy to those who can not afford these fees and bases their fees on a sliding-scale based on income that ranges from $25-$110.

In 2017 alone, we served 2,783 clients in over 18,300 sessions. In October 2017, we provided our 100,0o0th counseling session since opening in 2005.

We firmly believe that no matter who you are, no matter what you have done, no matter what has been done to you, no matter how much your income is or where you live, when you come to The Refuge Center you deserve to have the most excellent care possible with maximum opportunity for healing.
