Our hearts are heavy as we remember the babies we never had the chance to meet, and the ones held only for a short time. Each of their lives had great value, and they are loved — even in loss.

As midwives and nurses, it’s a sacred part of our work to walk with women not only through life and birth, but also through loss. We carry the memory of these babies, and the families who love them, close to our hearts today.

If you are remembering a baby, we invite you to light a candle with us in their honor. We have candles available in the office if you’d like to take one, and we would be honored if you’d share your baby’s name or a candle below so we can remember alongside you.

If you’re walking through loss and need some support, we’ve shared a resource below. Know that you are not alone in this. 🤍

As we wrap up National Midwifery Week, we’re closing our highlights with Emmy Zarabi — whose warmth and steady presence bring so much calm and confidence to the families she serves.

Emmy’s love for this work runs deep. She began her career as a Labor and Delivery nurse and was drawn to midwifery for its more personal, hands-on approach — one that allows her to truly know the women she cares for. Moving into home birth care has felt like coming home to what she’s always believed about birth: that it can be both powerful and peaceful when women feel safe and supported.

If Emmy has been part of your story, we’d love for you to share a note or memory below!

As National Midwifery Week continues, today we’re celebrating Dawn Swendsen — whose experience, heart, and wisdom have been such a gift to Haven families.

With more than 25 years in women’s health and nearly 1,500 births, Dawn brings a calm confidence that can only come from walking with so many women through birth. She believes deeply in the body’s natural ability to give birth and supports families with education, shared decision-making, and trust.

In this video, Dawn shares her story and the path that led her into midwifery.

If Dawn has been part of your story, we’d love for you to share a note or memory below!

As we continue celebrating National Midwifery Week, we’re so happy to highlight Carolyn Denning — one of our incredible midwives here at Haven.

If you’ve met Carolyn, you know her calm confidence and the deep care she brings to every family she serves. Her journey into midwifery has taken her around the world and shaped the heart she brings into every birth.

In this video, Carolyn shares more about what led her here, the moments that have shaped her, and why this work means so much to her.

If Carolyn has been part of your story, we’d love for you to share a note or memory below!

As we celebrate National Midwifery Week, we’re taking a moment to honor our midwives individually, and we’re kicking it off with Lauren Drees — the founder and heart behind Haven!

If you’ve ever met Lauren, you’ve felt it — her incredible ability to be fully present with you in every moment. She brings a calm, grounded presence into every birth, carrying a deep belief that birth can be peaceful and sacred, and that women are capable of so much more than they realize.

Lauren’s story into midwifery began back in nursing school, when she saw a version of birth that didn’t sit right with her. It was efficient, but it didn’t always honor the woman at the center of it. She knew there had to be another way — one rooted in trust, relationship, and care that sees the whole person.

That conviction led her here — to founding Haven Birth and Wellness.

In this video, Lauren shares her story: how it began, what’s shaped her along the way, and why this work still moves her deeply today.

If Lauren has been part of your story, we’d love for you to share a note or memory below!

National Midwifery Week continues!

If you’re coming by the clinic this week, stop by the front desk to drop our midwives a note to show your love! 💕

It’s National Midwifery Week! 🎉 Time to celebrate the incredible women who make Haven what it is.

Our midwives walk with families through some of life’s most sacred moments — showing up in the middle of the night, sitting quietly when words aren’t needed, and reminding women of their own strength when they forget. They pray, laugh, cry, and hold space for it all. Their work is both ordinary and holy, and we’re endlessly grateful for the way they love and serve our families.

If you’ve been cared for by one of our midwives, we’d love to hear from you. Share a favorite memory, a word of thanks, or something you’ll never forget about your experience with them!
