Life Journey Yoga

Life Journey Yoga At Life Journey Yoga, we explore yoga as a path of connection to self, others, and spirit. I was doing everything for everyone else and nothing for myself.

Our vinyasa & yin classes weave mantra, asana, pranayama, mudra, meditation & philosophy. Rooted in community, guided by spirit a sanctuary to move, breathe & grow. I began my yoga practice in 2013 as an overwhelmed, stressed out mom who felt like I didn’t know if I was coming or going. I was out of shape and needed to shed a few pounds. Through my yoga practice I was learning to quiet my own monkey mind and put myself back on the list for a change. The more I practiced the better I felt. I was much more relaxed and focused. Not that I don’t still get stressed, I do but now I have some tools in my toolbox to turn to for help. That is when I decided to deepen my practice by becoming a certified yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher certification training May 2017 through Practice Indie in Indianapolis. I see yoga as a tool for mindful and intentional living, as well as a way to tap into your most vibrant loving self and awaken the light within. My classes focus on creating a space for students’ self- acceptance, inward reflection, and self-discovery. I continue to practice and learn daily. I’m excited to help others in their journey towards inner peace through their own yoga practice. Together we can change the world one breath at a time. Your mind and body are intimately connected.

From a yogic perspective, feelings of shame, negative emotions, or tension in the body can stir up citta-vrtti, or constant mental noise. This makes it difficult for our minds to find a sense of stillness and peace.

The practice of yoga offers a path to move beyond shame and cultivate a loving relationship with your body. Through mindful movement and breath (āsana), we can begin to create a safe space within ourselves.

As you practice, you might notice thoughts and emotions arise. Instead of immediately pushing them away or believing them, try to acknowledge them with curiosity, like a passing cloud.

Over time, this consistent practice of noticing without immediately reacting allows us to build a bridge to non-judgmental awareness. It's not about forcing yourself to feel a certain way, but about patiently creating a new relationship with your inner world, one built on kindness rather than criticism. This shift is the first step toward true self-acceptance.

By doing this, you create space for your mind to find a natural sense of peace, and the path to inner stillness becomes a little bit clearer.

Full Quote for Reference: “Yoga is really trying to liberate us from shame about our bodies. To love your body is a very important thing – I think the health of your mind depends on your being able to love your body.” – Rodney Yee.
