Blue Heron Acupuncture-People

Blue Heron Acupuncture-People Blue Heron Acupuncture is a general family practice providing high quality, individualized healthcare for a wide variety of health conditions.

I utilize acupuncture, Chinese herbs and nutritional counseling to promote health and wellness for patients of every age throughout all stages of life. Many people initially come to see me because they are experiencing distress or discomfort and are seeking immediate relief. While acupuncture is a very powerful tool for alleviating the symptoms of pain and illness, there is so much more that this medicine can do. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of health care widely used in many places throughout the world. TCM treats a large variety of acute and chronic conditions as well as helping with health maintenance and disease prevention. In fact, the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) both endorse acupuncture as an effective treatment for many common health problems. I strongly believe that acupuncture and herbs should be an integral part of any individual’s plan for wellness because TCM not only addresses the symptoms of illness, but also the root imbalances that can cause disease in the first place. Ultimately, I view successful health care as a collaboration between patient and practitioner. At Blue Heron Acupuncture I will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that utilizes your body’s own natural capacity to heal itself. You will experience compassionate, effective care in a relaxing, supportive atmosphere that will help build and sustain your health and maximize your sense of well being and quality of life.

Once dry needling practitioners began using the same tools as acupuncture, the debate of what distinguished dry needling from acupuncture began to be more acute (from the Latin acus ‘needle’), so to speak.

The majority of reviews find acupuncture therapy to be an efficacious strategy for acute pain with potential to avoid and/or reduce opioid reliance. Did you know Rest Ice Compression Elevation (RICE ) is a thing of the past in the newest research out there?

Research has shown that the ‘new’ approach to soft tissue injury management can be remembered through the acronym PEACE and LOVE (its actually not super new…the research has been out for some time…it’s just that change is hard and it tends to be slow when all of society was taught the same information. What was once the accepted norm, underwent reform, and now we need to re-educate ourselves in light of new information (metaphor not lost on me for larger matters in this world as well).

Check out our infographic and be sure to SAVE it.

The hardest part of this approach for me is that I actually love ice.
So I do still use ice as a pain reliever, but I’m doing it much less and I am not using it with the intent to reduce inflammation.
The other one that catches people off-guard when they read this list is to NOT take anti-inflammatory medications right after injury either. Basically, let it inflame and let your body do its thing. It’s better that way.
