We were honored to have Nancy with us for a while. She was a joy to be around and a ‘darn good bean breaker’! We will be keeping her family in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Nancy C. Thurman, age 90, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 8:00 PM at the Oak Hill Senior Living in Portland, TN.

Mrs. Thurman wishes to be cremated. There will be private family graveside service at a later date.

Nancy was born on November 25, 1934 in Simpson County, KY to the late Donlean Turner and the late Rosie (Poston) Turner. She was the wife of the late, William S. “Bill” Thurman and preceded in death by three siblings, Bobby Turner, Ann Fleming and Linda Faye Turner.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristie Stratton (Mike) of Franklin, KY; granddaughter, Audra Lafleur (Jared) of Massachusetts; great-grandson, Eli; sister, Bettie Biggs of Franklin, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Franklin-Simpson County High School in Franklin, KY. As a child, she attended Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. She was a member of the Franklin Garden Club, Simpson County Homemakers, Friends of the Goodnight Memorial Library, and an active member of the Lake Springs community. Nancy was retired from Simpson County Bank/Union Planters/Regions Bank in Franklin, KY.

Nancy committed her life to being with her family and serving her community. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and loved to cook. As a former Simpson County telephone operator, Nancy enjoyed getting together with the “telephone girls” regularly in her retirement.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Oak Hill Senior Living, 639 N. Broadway, Portland, TN 37148.

Our hearts are broken because we will miss this special lady so much, but we find comfort in knowing that heaven gained the sweetest angel!

Mrs. Helen Perry Farley, age 91, of Franklin, KY, passed away Friday, October 17th, 2025 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., visitation will continue on Tuesday from 6:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Helen was born on March 8, 1934 in Franklin, KY to the late Modist Perry and the late Mary (Snider) Perry. She was the wife of the late John Farley and was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Snider Perry, Ralph Perry, Margaret Reece.

She is survived by 2 children, Joni Pruitt (Terry) of Lexington, KY and Steve Farley (Mary) of Franklin, KY; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Pruitt, Mallory Pruitt (Chris), Elizabeth Farley, John Louis Farley, Stephen Farley (Allison); 2 great grandchildren, Madison and Rainley and 2 nephews. Special thanks to Teresa McFarland and caregivers at Southern KY Senior Living.

Helen was a member of the Round Pond Church. She was a graduate of the Franklin-Simpson High School. She was the co-founder/owner for 58 years of Simpson County Tire Company. Helen loved to play card games, especially rook, playing bumper pool, gardening. She dearly loved her pets but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In lieu of flower, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Round Pond Church, c/o Lydia Lathem, 201 Stephens Hill Rd., Franklin, KY 42134. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
