We are in the dog days of summer and it is HOT out! So how do we ensure the chickens stay cool and comfortable? We provide them with shade for them to get a break from the intense sun and we keep a close eye making sure they have plenty of water. Chickens regulate their body temperature by panting to cool down, and by using their feathers and blood vessels in their combs and wattles to dissipate heat. Panting becomes more common with temperatures over 80 degrees.
