Language development starts long before first words.
Before babies say “mama” or “dada,” they’re learning how communication works through connection, interaction, and shared experiences. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

These early building blocks of language actually promote and encourage first words!

When we slow down, follow their lead, and respond to their attempts to communicate, we’re teaching them that their voice matters (even before they have words). ⭐️

If your baby isn’t talking yet, focus on these skills first! If you’re feeling concerned, give us a call and speak to a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist today! 💬

Feeding doesn’t just involve the mouth…

Did you know physical therapy and feeding therapy often go hand-in-hand for infants? Posture, strength, and coordination all play a HUGE role in how your baby feeds whether at the breast, bottle, or beyond.

⭐️ Physical Therapy supports:
• Head, neck, and trunk control
• Building strength and reducing tension
• Addressing concerns like torticollis or asymmetry
& MORE

⭐️ Feeding Therapy supports:
• Oral motor skills (latch, suck, swallow, breathe)
• Endurance and efficiency during feeds
• Transitioning to solids when the time comes
& MORE

When we work together, we’re not just treating feeding, we’re building the foundation for confident, comfortable, and successful eating. 🤍
If feeding feels hard, you’re not alone! We’re here to support you!

This week we’d like to shine the spotlight on one of our favorite ways to engage in purposeful play, movement toys! 🐥🚼

Why we love this Mama Duck and her Ducklings:
• Movements are slow with soft music, as to not overstimulate baby
• Can be used to promote various developmental stages, such as viewing during tummy time practice, while sitting, or to promote crawling and walking
• Also excellent for language skill promotion, encouraging your little one to attend and interact with their environment

This week we’d like to shine the spotlight on one of our favorite products for our parents…a ring sling carrier! 🤱🏽⭐️

Why we love it:
•Can be used in early infancy and across infant stages, transitioning to support hip carrying
•Great for babies who prefer less compassion during baby wearing
•Supports mom and dad’s posture and comfort
•Allows for and encourages rotation

Torticollis can impact more than just head and neck position…it can also affect feeding. When a baby has tightness, weakness, or a head-turn preference, it may make it harder to latch comfortably on one side, maintain an efficient suck, or stay organized during feeds.
That’s where collaboration matters ⭐️

Together, a team approach supports better positioning, improved feeding efficiency, and more positive feeding experiences. 🤱🏽
If breastfeeding or bottle feeding feels harder at times, it may be worth taking a closer look at how your baby moves. Early support can make a big difference!

Meet this week’s *STAR* and newest grad!! ⭐️

Connor began his PT journey at just 1 month of age due to torticollis and significant trunk asymmetries. These difficulties further impacted his gross motor development.

After so much hard work from both him and his parents, Connor has resolved his torticollis, is developing symmetrically, and is meeting his motor milestones! He graduated PT and has crushed his goals! We are so proud of him! 🎓✨
