We are proud to announce that our own Dr. Kevin Young is a lead author in a recent article published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology, which focuses on the GAMEFILM registry.

This newly published case series reveals a critical reality: even highly trained, asymptomatic, formal professional athletes can have significant, previously undiagnosed coronary atherosclerosis.

What changed the game?
- Coronary CT angiography
- AI-powered plaque analysis with HeartFlow
- Functional assessment using HeartFlow FFR-CT

This represents the future of cardiovascular screening: moving beyond simply asking “Is there a blockage?” to understanding the total plaque burden, plaque composition, and physiological impact.

The GAMEFILM study has now expanded beyond NFL, and includes eligible NHL and NBA players. We were honored to have this legend in our office as one of the select practices to take part in the study.

Former NBA point guard Muggsy Bogues, who also acted in the 1996 film Space Jam, is one of the many athletes who has already been evaluated with the Plaque Analysis software developed by Heartflow.

This week we had the privilege of being the first in the country to perform a screening CCTA with AI enhanced plaque analysis as a part of Heartflow’s GAMEFILM former NBA player study. And it just so happened to be a legend like Muggsy Bogues, wow!

Heartflow expanded their study to include former NBA and NHL players as well as continuing to screen former NFL players. By screening former players, we're turning real data into insights that will impact future player care.

Special thanks to Muggsy for being a part of this incredible study.
