Long update!!!
Monday 9/1
Got a call around 10:30 am Gabe out of the blue coded and they had to do everything but cpr to keep him alive.
Tuesday 9/2
Gabe was given a grime diagnosis and we were told to not expect him to survive. They also expected him to be on the ventilator for 10-14 days. That his liver has failed due to the system shock it went through.
So the dnr was put into place.
Wednesday 9/3
Gabes dialysis nurse fought hard against the doctors to get him off the vent when they wanted to keep him on.
Guess what by 5:15 pm my boy was breathing on his own!!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻.
Thursday 9/4
Gabes blood pressure and oxygen stayed stable all night and day.
But had low sugar issues that was corrected by a drip.
Still was told his liver is not the best.
Had bone marrow biopsy.
Friday 9/5 TODAY!!!!
Still no update yet on the biopsy, but this is what has happened so far today.
So I'm gonna start off with Gabriel insisted of trying to sit up on the side of the bed even though we said that he's too weak so the nurse and I had held him on the side of the bed but it lasted like a whole minute to two minutes, but it was a victory plus even though he was a little noodle couldn't even hold his own head up high or anything, but his blood pressure didn't like it. His blood pressure shot up 153/103.
Physical therapy in occupational therapy came in evaluated him. He's definitely gonna need tons of help and therapy. He's still so weak. He can't even hardly hold the cup up for him to drink.
And Gabe was moved to room 200. He will stay on the second floor next to ICU for a little while due to the fact he is not out of the woods.
All right so far some of the plan and hypothetically process for his blood situation is to see if his body can start reproducing his own white cells. If it don't in the future, they will give him some type of medicine that they give chemo patients.
And when it comes to the vent when he comes home when he gets stable enough and physically able enough that if he needs blood that he will have to be admitted to Lakeview overnight to go through the whole process plus do dialysis at the same time.
The doctor thinks that Gabriel's gonna probably have to go to a rehab rehabilitation facility, but I told her our goal would be to get him strong enough to stand on his legs and then do outpatient therapy since I can be at home to help him
As for his liver, they do believe it will heal, but of course time again is what it's going to need, but they are a little concerned still on that aspect because he was having elevated levels prior to this episode
They also are looking into the fact of the numbness of his hands and feet they suggested a Neuro consult on him and the cardiologist is concerned, thinking that maybe it could be vasculitis due to the heart surgery
Once he's out of the woods he will move to 5th floor.
We truly want to thank you for all the support and prayers.
