Coming out of my “maternity retirement” to spread the word about my friend Aleks "The Hebrew Hammer" Salkin’s new book! Not only is it super affordable (it’s downright cheap), but it’s bound to be jam-packed with useful training info—check it out!

It’s almost hard to believe, but this month marks *14 years* since my first kettlebell lesson with my coach Scott.

Equally crazy is the fact that my bodyweight strength journey began in earnest 11 years ago as of last month.

Back then in our little niche of the kettlebell world, it wasn’t uncommon for kettlebell hoisters to be “only” kettlebell guys or gals, relegating all other tools to the side. With the lone exception of pullups and pistol squats (for those who could do them), calisthenics was just not a topic of great interest among most instructors – save for maybe using basic cals as finisher moves in their group classes.

I, on the other hand, got bitten by the bodyweight bug early and have made it an integral part of my training since.

So much so, in fact, that many years ago my friend and colleague Ronen Katz, Senior SFG, commented “you’re really more of a bodyweight guy, aren’t you?”

Calisthenics fanatic? Yes. But bodyweight-only guy specifically? No.

The magic isn’t in picking sides, but in the combination of the two!

Yet surprisingly enough, even after all these years and in spite of the absolute abundance of really high quality kettlebell training material available now, in my experience there’s really still comparatively little that shows either the raw beginner OR the experienced intermediate how to effectively *combine* kettlebells and calisthenics – not to mention Original Strength, which is the glue that holds it all together.

So, I set out to fix that.

Enter The No BS Kettlebell and Bodyweight Kickstart Program.

It’s my first-ever self-published book on the topic of kickstarting your strength journey through kettlebells and calisthenics – whether you’re stuck at the starting line or have hit a snag somewhere along the way in the middle of your epic voyage.

For the next week, the cost is a ridiculously generous $2.99 in the Kindle Store, and you can get it here:

https://www.amazon.com/No-Kettlebell-Bodyweight-Kickstart-Program-ebook/dp/B0B8XV9MM6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2P1OSFD9TIZMR&keywords=the+no+bs+kettlebell+and+bodyweight+kickstart+program&qid=1660133019&s=digital-text&sprefix=%2Cdigital-text%2C65&sr=1-1

(You can also get it in paperback, at least in the US – other territories may take longer before that’s available)

And check this out:

Despite not even having mentioned that it was already in the Amazon store, last night I looked and saw that out of 10s of 1000s of books, mine was already at the #10 spot in the Kindle Store, and is currently still sitting at #17!

Not bad for a first book.

If you've enjoyed my content over the last 10 years, you'll definitely love this book.

Snag yourself a copy here and let me know how you like it: https://www.amazon.com/No-Kettlebell-Bodyweight-Kickstart-Program-ebook/dp/B0B8XV9MM6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2P1OSFD9TIZMR&keywords=the+no+bs+kettlebell+and+bodyweight+kickstart+program&qid=1660133019&s=digital-text&sprefix=%2Cdigital-text%2C65&sr=1-1

Have fun and happy training!

Excuuuuuse me?

Scrolled upon a chain "bootcamp" gym's post, asking members to throw out their trainers' favorite lines. This one was tossed out in a comment.

I forget sometimes that there are still group fitness classes that operate like this.

"Tired" is absolutely a reason to modify!

Not only is *not modifying* when you're tired a sad scenario--it's a dangerous one!

If you have a trainer who shames you for listening to your body, please, know that you don't have to keep going back!

As a professional who often plays a role in my clients’ goal to “lose weight,” it might seem pretty awkward when I don’t directly congratulate the weight loss. I try to celebrate work ethic, commitment, energy, etc., & to always bring it back to more intrinsically-defined success. It can be tricky not to slip into old habits!

When you celebrate someone for their weight loss or body transformation, are you celebrating *them* or are you really just celebrating the dangerous myth that thinness is best at any cost? Are you celebrating someone’s fitness progress, or are you celebrating their progress deeper into a looks-obsessed culture that doesn’t actually care about their health and fitness at all, just their “improved” body no matter the unhealthy extremes it took to get there? We encourage you to *celebrate*🎉 people as much and as often as possible, but celebrate them in ways that honor their humanity, their abilities, talents, and character. Celebrate who they are, what they do, and how they inspire you.
🖤If that includes celebrating their body, do your best to make sure you honor and respect them *regardless of how they look*, and that they know that deeply. Because bodies constantly change, focusing your validation on someone’s body does little to really honor them in a sustainable or impactful way. The compliments that really stick with you go much deeper than your body, and can’t be brushed off nearly so easily. And because weight loss compliments are often deeply painful for people unintentionally losing weight due to illness or stress or fueling disordered eating or unhealthy extremes, it’s best to dig deeper with your compliments. We share many of your examples of the mind-boggling weight loss compliments you’ve received in our book!
🖤In a world that values us as bodies first and humans second, we can remind people of their worth by the way we celebrate them. We are more than bodies. Let’s see more, be more, and say more.
📚We dive IN to this topic in our debut book, More Than a Body, by Lexie & Lindsay Kite, PhD and it’s still on SALE FOR 40% OFF on Amazon as we speak😱! Linked in bio!

You know that feeling when your soul reminds you that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be?

I felt that Monday morning at 6:15am, after 37 days in India and away from my studio.

I love Thrive Culture Fitness, and I love sharing space with Champion Martial Arts Center.

Thank you, Steve and Alicia, for the warm “welcome home” and the gifts for baby girl!

This is ~75% of the WHY behind my barefoot zeal.

I read Born to Run (Christopher McDougall) about 12 years ago, and, from that point on, I’ve been passionate about barefoot training (and living!). I even became an Barefoot Training Specialist so that I could learn the deeper science.

So very true
Wear shoes shaped like human feet = will have healthy feet
Wear alien shoes shaped like triangles = will develop deformed triangle shaped feet (aka bunions)
