Mel Robbins' Year End Audit has some of my favorite simple exercises so you can reflect and plan. A new year is a new beginning and chance to refine and recommit.

It’s good to do this with your partner or someone who can support you and hold you accountable. Use your camera roll and calendar to remind you of where you have been as you determine where you want to go next.

Here’s the seven questions she suggests:

1. What was this year’s highlights?

2. What were the hardest parts?

3. What did you learn about yourself?

4. What are you going to stop doing?

5. What are you going to continue doing?

6. What are you going to start doing?

7. What can you do today to get started?

Couples therapy doesn't have to look like learning communication skills, it can feel like strengthening attachment bonds, increasing vulnerability, and learning to be more emotionally available.

It may not always be comfortable at first, but engaging in new experiences delivers a proven mental-health boost. In fact, the benefits are so wide-ranging that doing new things should probably be considered an essential element of well-being.

Hello! Local mental health professionals are invited to join us for an Open House in downtown Frederick on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 5-7 pm. The purpose of this event is to help us all widen our networks for future referral needs, community resources, and to simply get to know other local therapists and providers. Bring business cards or just stop in to make new professional contacts and chat! Refreshments will be provided. Feel free to DM me with any questions!

So much of connection with others comes from being mindfully present.

Rather than waiting for resentment to grow in the relationship, it’s important that partners celebrate what’s working, express appreciation, and ensure a balanced distribution of housework and childcare.

Practicing mindful presence helps you better understand your partner and their needs. Read more from Registered Psychotherapist Nicole Schiener of Peace and Possibility on the Gottman Relationship Blog: http://bit.ly/3Y6pEnJ
