SHIFT Work + Play is thrilled to announce our first-ever ๐Œ๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ฌโ€™ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก & ๐–๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐…๐š๐ข๐ซ, taking place Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 11 AM to 2 PM โ€” and weโ€™re now accepting exhibitor applications!

This is a free community event for parents and caregivers of children from birth through early elementary school. Weโ€™re building a curated lineup of Frederick County practitioners and organizations whose work supports families โ€” especially mamas โ€” in the early years.

Weโ€™re looking for local service providers in:

Mental health & therapy
Nutrition & food
Fitness & movement
Bodywork & massage
Sleep consulting
Parent coaching
Pediatric health
Early childhood education & development
Community & support groups

Exhibitor spaces are just $30 and include a table and chairs. Priority is given to Frederick County practitioners offering services and information โ€” not product sales.

Being a mom right now is hard โ€” in ways that are specific, structural, and relentless. The childcare that costs more than a mortgage. The mental load that never fully clocks out. The weight of a world that handed you a to-do list and called it empowerment.

The weight you're feeling isn't imaginary, and it isn't a personal failing. It's the predictable result of a society that never fully built the systems mothers actually need.

When C&A Financial Services joined SHIFT in October 2023, their goal was clear: establish a strong presence in Frederick.

They moved into two private offices, hosted their ribbon cutting here, built local relationships, and steadily grew their footprint.

After two years at SHIFT, they transitioned into their own dedicated office suite just a few doors down in the same building. As they prepared for their move, they also evolved their brand to ๐‚&๐€ ๐…๐ข๐ง๐š๐ง๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐’๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ & ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  โ€” reflecting the expanded scope of their work.

Just like this paper chain, our playroom sessions got a little longerโ€”and weโ€™re excited about it ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ•˜ Morning Play: 8:30 AMโ€“12:00 PM
๐Ÿ•ง Afternoon Play: 12:30โ€“4:00 PM

Sessions are now 3.5 hours (up from 3!), with a shorter transition between AM and PM play. That means more time for kids to create and playโ€”and a longer, smoother work window for parents.

We continue to offer AM & PM sessions Mondayโ€“Thursday, plus AM sessions on Fridays.

Elizabeth (who goes by Ellie) holds an Associate Degree in Human Services and is working towards a future in social work. She brings a genuine love of connecting with people and a thoughtful, welcoming presence that kids and parents immediately feel.

Born and raised in Peru, Ellie takes pride in her cultural background and enjoys sharing her story. She's also enthusiastic about learning new skills and growing personally and professionallyโ€”just some of the many qualities that make her a wonderful fit for our playroom and SHIFT community!

Last month, we said a fond farewell to Maddi after 2.5 years as part of the SHIFT Work + Play team ๐Ÿ’™

Maddi was a steady, thoughtful presence in our playroom, and weโ€™re deeply grateful for the care and creativity she brought to our community. While her regular role has wrapped up, weโ€™re glad sheโ€™ll still be joining us for occasional Parentsโ€™ Night Out events.
