Lately, thereโ€™s been a lot of commentary on social media about parents โ€œover-programmingโ€ their kids with summer campsโ€”as if weโ€™re all chasing enrichment for enrichmentโ€™s sake. But for most families, summer camps arenโ€™t about avoiding boredom. Theyโ€™re about making sure our kids are safe, cared for, and engaged while we work.

Summer childcare is a huge expense, and parents are doing the best they can. Instead of judging, letโ€™s focus on what would really help: affordable programs, flexible work options, and real community support.
