🧠 September is Chiari Awareness Month — a time to shine a light on Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, and related disorders.
At Cornerstone Physical Therapy we stand with the community in raising awareness, offering support, and helping those affected reclaim movement, function, and quality of life.
✅ Chiari isn’t just “head stuff” — it can impact balance, coordination, neck pain, strength, and more
✅ Physical therapy can play a key role in symptom management, post‑surgery recovery, and improving daily function
✅ You’re not alone - support, education, and advocacy matter
This month we encourage everyone to learn more through trusted sources like the Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation, and to reach out if you or someone you know is facing challenges from Chiari or related disorders.

Hey Groundswell Family!

We will be offering a new session through Groundswell lead by Kimmer Roberts. "Girls Club" will be a 5-week session for $120 from 10:00am - 10:45am on Tuesdays starting 9/30-10/28 that will focus on learning how to navigate social situations just for the girls. If you know of anyone that would be interested in this there is a registration link below that you can share with them.

We will practice skills such as:

-Being a good friend
-Overcoming shyness
-Learning to use our voice
-Advocating for needs
-Learning to respect others space
-Reacting to someone who isn't being a good friend
-Reacting appropriately in the moment like an Adult
-Feeling left out or jealous
-Gaining confidence
-Interacting in a group
-How to navigate boyfriends
-Creating boundaries

This is something I used in my classroom at Ivymount School with teen girls and it became very successful. As your special loved one's age and are no longer in a school or a structured environment it can be hard to continue to navigate feelings and emotions in social situations.

We will utilize games, roll playing and activities to support positive social relationships with friends, boyfriends, and others. The last week will be a field trip where we can practice all the skills taught. Probably a lunch or trip to a flower farm.

Groundswell is a place where I learned to gain my own voice not only through the practice of Mixed Martial Arts, but from the support I received along the way. It's my way to give back to help support them as they have done for me and so many others.
