Meet Our Staff!
In honor of Recovery Month, we invite you to meet Julie, one of our Peer Recovery Specialists. We asked Julie to share why she loves being a peer.

"My favorite thing about being a Peer is being able to connect with my clients by sharing my story. My lived experiences are a key element to showing others that you can overcome obstacles and live the life you deserve.

One of my favorite client success stories would have to be a family that I recently just closed out. Mom had come in looking for resources for her adult son, who was struggling with alcohol. Through many months of interventions with just Mom, her son finally came around and agreed to work with me, and is now over one year sober."

You can access our Peer Recovery services by visiting the Walk-In Crisis Care Center at 340 Montevue Lane.

If you think someone is struggling, trust your gut. Ask directly and listen. Contrary to popular belief, asking someone directly if they’re thinking about su***de won’t “put the idea in their head.” In fact, people are often relieved to have a real conversation about mental health. Together, we can help .

If you're looking for advice on approaching this topic with someone who's struggling, call us at 301-662-2255 and our crisis specialists will be happy to help you find the right words.
