On Mondays, we’re turning our social channels over to our staff so you can get to know the amazing people who make up our team.
Meet the Staff Monday with Troy Barrick:
“I’ve been with Stauffer Funeral Homes since October 2023, serving as Vice President of Operations. My role includes daily oversight, compliance, and supporting our staff—but one of the most meaningful parts of my job is working directly with families during visitations and funerals.
After retiring from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office following 28 years of service, I brought the same values with me to Stauffer Funeral Homes: compassion, dignity, respect, and treating every family the way I would want my own to be treated.
Working here is especially meaningful to me because Stauffer is family. The business was started by my Uncle Doug in 1972, my mom retired from here, and today I get to work alongside my cousin George and his wife Courtney—along with an incredible team I’m grateful for every day.
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my wife Jennifer, my sons Brady and Tyler, and our two German Shorthaired Pointers Huk and Jojo. Fishing is my favorite hobby—especially light-tackle inshore fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and in North Carolina. I’m also proud to volunteer with the YMCA’s Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame.
🎣 Dream trip: A week-long fishing trip to Costa Rica, chasing fish I’ve never caught—or maybe never even heard of.
⚾ Fun fact: Before law enforcement, I played college baseball at North Carolina Wesleyan, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals, and spent several years in the minor leagues—yes, I even have a few baseball cards out there!
