Dialectical Behavior Therapy combines cognitive behavioral strategies with mindfulness to help people:
— Build emotional intelligence
— Advocate for themselves
— Strengthen relationships
— Respond rather than react
— Live more fully

We live in a world with a vested interest in convincing us that wisdom, wholeness, and answers exist somewhere outside of ourselves — in the next purchase, the next opinion, the next version of who we are supposed to become.
Wise Mind is a direct challenge to that.
It is the balance between your thinking mind and your feeling mind — the place where you can pause, see the big picture, and reconnect with your true self. It is inner wisdom. It is trusting your intuition. And it is already in you — the sun behind the clouds — not something to add, but something to find your way back to.
When you can find your center under pressure, you stop outsourcing your knowing. You become someone you can trust. And that is where everything else — every relationship, every decision, every hard moment — gets a little more solid ground to stand on.

These assumptions shape everything about how we show up — no judgment, no blame, just genuine curiosity about what drives behavior and what becomes possible with better tools and real support.
We have been offering this class since 2018 because we believe that skills change not just individual lives, but the quality of every relationship and community those individuals are part of.

Poetry reminds us that we are not alone with what we carry. It has always belonged to people whose stories weren’t told anywhere else and has the timeless ability to connect across generations. Lucille Clifton attended Howard University and later became one of the most celebrated poets of the 20th century- all while raising 6 children! She was also Poet Laureate of Maryland from 1979-1985
