4D has a couple meanings to us. The first and foremost is the remembrance of Amanda's brother Dustin. He passed away due to an overdose. Dustin was a baseball player and he wore the number 4. Although he is no longer with us, his passing has created a passion to help others find recovery and really was the spark behind this project.
The second meaning for us is found in the Big Book p. 25 where it states "We have found much of heaven and we have been rocketed into the fourth dimension of existence of which we have not even dreamed."
Amazing things happen to people when they enter into recovery, and we are so excited to share our experience through our houses. Families effected by addiction know how challenging recovery can be. We are committed to serve to the best of our ability and we understand the assignment. There will be many sleepless nights, heart breaks, late calls, trips to the hospital and detox.
We appreciate all of the support. The Frederick community has been amazing. So many people have reached out to donate furniture, dishes and connections to help those living in our houses with resources to get back on their feet.
Our first two houses are scheduled to open around June 1st & we will continue to post updates as we get closer to opening day.
