Purse-uing Actions

Purse-uing Actions We are a group of people that truly believe that kindness can change the world. Let's get together to give back to those in need in the Frederick area.

We started this group to find others who are interested in finding ways to help people in need in our community and through acts of service and support. We'll get together and help those in need, have some fun and change the world!

😁Do you feel happy each and every day?

😆Did you know that happy people are healthier people?

🤗Most of us spend over half our waking days at work. And too many of us (one of them is my husband) consider it a necessary sacrifice, something we're required to do to provide for ourselves and our families. We make it impossible to spend with our own family and to enjoy the time we have for ourselves.

😁I think we need to rethink that attitude. The Dali Lama has said, "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions."

There are daily things you can do to be consistently happy:

😁 1) Smile - the actual act of smiling emits serotonin (the happy hormone) and creates a stimulating, positive environment.

✌️2) Forgive and let go - forgiving means moving on, letting go of negativity, making peace in the heart and mind to create new chapters in your life.

🤗 3) Give thanks - take satisfaction for the good that’s come into your life, and pay it forward to others.

🧘‍♀️ 4) Mindfulness meditation - a way to receive the message of what’s making you anxious and let your body know you’re handling it.

🙏🏻 There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to how to be happy. But by engaging in self reflection, awareness for your emotions, engagement with others with gratitude, and treating your mind and body with care, you will get out of your own way and let genuine happiness enrich your entire life.

“Whoa.” That might be said by anyone who’s spent time lately on social media, behind the wheel or even ’round some holiday tables. Seems like we’re in a bit of a kindness crisis these days. In fact, only 25 percent of Americans believe we’re living in a kind society, according to a poll by Kindness…

We have a volunteer opportunity that came up for outside painting of the concrete wall of a Habitat for Humanity home build in Brunswick. It is one of the last items that needs to get done before the home build is completed. Volunteers are needed for 8-12 and 12 – 4. You can also help all day. To register, please go to www.fredrak.org

About Habitat for Humanity:
At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities, we build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves.

Your donation will help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. Your support can help us do more in all the many ways that Habitat builds.

Thanks to you, Habitat is transforming the lives of more than 5 million people around the world!
