Researchers discovered that minimal time investment in weightlifting can still produce noticeable muscle growth and improved strength:

Only 30 minutes twice a week of resistance training is enough to see gains, according to a study published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.

Participants trained for 8 weeks doing nine compound exercises targeting all major muscle groups.

Gains occurred regardless of intensity: whether training to failure or stopping with reps in reserve.

Even those who already had strength training experience saw progress with this reduced regimen.

This suggests that a lack of time shouldn’t be a barrier to building muscle and maintaining strength.

💪 Exercises Used in the Study

Front lat pull-down

Seated cable row

Shoulder press

Chest press

Cable triceps pushdown

Supinated dumbbell biceps curl

Smith machine squats

Leg press

Leg extension

📣 Federal Guidelines Reminder

Adults should do muscle-strengthening activities at least twice per week.

Cardiovascular recommendations include:

150–300 mins/week of moderate-intensity cardio

75–150 mins/week of vigorous-intensity cardio
