The practice is closed permanently, effective August 8, 2025. We can no longer offer any care of any kind to our former patients. Over the last three months, active practice patients have received multiple notices about the closure, including the need to select a new provider for your child's healthcare.
We will accept requests for records until 8/31/2025: send an email to Kim.Mazziott101@msn.com, include your child's name and birthdate, and language to the effect that it is a request for records. You will receive a personal electronic copy by reply email, that you can then forward to the new provider of your choice. Requests are processed in the order received: as of this writing there is a backlog of several hundred requests, so we cannot specify a timeframe for responding to yours.
Effective 9/1/2025. Morgan Records Management will assume custody of the practice records. To request records, visit their website at www,MorganRecordsManagement.com, click the "Request My Records" link, and complete the required fields. Morgan Records will charge a nominal fee for copying and sending records, according to applicable state and federal laws.
The practice email - DrSteveAlcuri@msn.com - will remain active for six months after the closure date. It is for general communications only, and cannot be used for patient care questions of any kind.
Effective 9/1/2025, Dr Alcuri will be joining Frederick Pediatric Associates, located at 87 Thomas Johnson Drive, Frederick MD, with satellite offices in Mt Airy, Ballenger, and Urbana. Hi there to all.

It’s been a long time since I placed a post here. My apologies.......

Today, I want to talk about Well Care for the older kids and teens.

There is something about the baby and toddler years that helps parents keep a high level of awareness about Well Care and immunizations. For the most part we see you like clockwork during these years, and you are all to be congratulated for doing such a good job.

Once children reach the grade school years, and then the ‘tween" years, and then the teens, awareness of the need for Well Care seems to fall off.

We all want good and proper health care for our children; but events happen, problems happen, life happens, and our good intentions get caught up in other things. When Covid happened, it threw all of us off our rails, and in some ways we still haven’t recovered. When the older kids and teens are just going along well, moving smoothly from one year to the next, Well Care just doesn’t feel to be as high a priority as it was when they were little. All of these things are very understandable, and we should forgive ourselves for them…but not let them slide.

Pediatric and adolescent medicine is now largely a preventive discipline, and one of the ways we keep it that way is regular well care. It is no less important in the older years.

In this economy, I could see how many of you would have concerns about costs. Under the Affordable Health Care Act, health insurance plans are required to cover preventive services – that includes well care and immunizations – without copay, coinsurance or deductible. Well Care and immunizations should cost you nothing out of pocket. Even if you have a high deductible plan the deductible should not apply here.

If you are not sure where you stand with Well Care and immunizations, pleas call us. We can easily look in your records and tell you what is needed and when.

So please, let us hear from you. All ages are important to us, and your KIDDOS are too important to let fall through the cracks.
