So…..it’s been a while. 🤭

It has been OVER A YEAR since I last posted & if you’re wondering why…here’s your answer!

In December, I gave birth to this sweet boy! I found out around this time last year that I was pregnant very unexpectedly. After being classified as infertile for over two years & not ever believing I’d get pregnant or carry a baby, the last thing I expected was that positive pregnancy test. It has been a roller coaster: a high risk pregnancy starting at 11 weeks, a hypertension hospital admission, preeclampsia & so much more. I am so excited to share with you all just how big of a blessing the last year has been & even more excited to jump back into doula-ing.

It’s time for a little re-introduction post!

My name is Kristina and I am the face behind New Joy Doula Services! I became a certified birth doula in August 2020 during the height of COVID & it’s been a wild ride ever since!

I am a BIG believer in informed consent & unbiased support being available no matter the circumstances. This is why I offer voluntary birth doula services to teenagers facing an unplanned pregnancy and offer low cost options for families who need it. Whether you’re opting for an unmedicated birth or want the benefits of emotional support, I’m your girl!

After being diagnosed with PCOS and significant hormonal imbalance in 2021, I developed a passion for helping women find the root cause behind their struggles (see third photo of me being a human pin cushion!) I became a fertility doula in January 2022 and offer individualized plans to help each person whether they’re trying to conceive, balance their hormones, learn all the risks & benefits of hormonal birth control, or just increase their overall reproductive health!

I truly believe God called me to this position and brought me through unique struggles and experiences to do this work. Thanks for joining on the ride, and I am so glad you’re here!

Have you ever had symptoms that were “unexplainable” to your provider?

All your labs look normal, but something isn’t right. Unless requested, hormone panels are not typically routine. Low progesterone and other hormone imbalances aren’t always seen on regular bloodwork, so can be completely under the radar.

You’re not ready for this one:

You cannot possibly achieve peak fertility health without first taking care of you emotionally.

If you are burned out, exhausted, running on fumes, and barely making it through the day, you don’t have enough space to hold for yourself because you’ve been giving it to others all day. Giving what you have is enough, yes—but you deserve to feel the best you can.

Balancing hormones isn’t a checklist and there aren’t boxes to mark off. Little steps are necessary.

Start with you. Get some sleep. Build a routine. Meditate. Go for walks.

Start small. Little changes make the biggest difference.

High testosterone is one of the most common symptoms of PCOS. This can cause excess hair growth, acne, weight gain, mood swings, and much more.

Diet can play a big role in PCOS treatment. That’s not to say that diet is what *caused* the PCOS to develop, but it can definitely help aid in the treatment of the condition.
