❄️ Winter Storm Fern – Tuesday Morning Update ❄️

Icy roads remain across parts of Gillespie County this morning, especially in shaded and rural areas. Please limit non‑essential travel and use extreme caution if you must be out. Sunshine and warming temperatures today should help improve conditions.

First responders handled multiple water‑leak calls overnight as frozen pipes began thawing, and more leaks are likely through the day.

Most City streets are clear, but Highway 16 North, Highway 783, and several FM roads remain fully iced over. TxDOT continues applying melting materials countywide.

City Sanitation: Monday & Tuesday trash routes will be collected today as soon as conditions allow.

Closures: City/County offices open at 1 p.m. today; FISD, Harper ISD, and Doss ISD are closed Tuesday.

Residents should stay cautious, prepare for another hard freeze tonight, and monitor official updates.

Emergency: 911 | Non‑emergency: 830‑997‑8080

Sanitation: Monday and Tuesday trash routes will be collected Tuesday, Jan. 27, as conditions allow.

H‑E‑B: Reopened at 4 p.m. and open until 11 p.m.

Closures: City and County offices open at 1 p.m. Tuesday; FISD closed Tuesday; several parks/facilities remain closed.

Out of an abundance of caution, Fredericksburg ISD will be closed Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Roadways remain wet and could refreeze overnight, particularly in areas outside city limits. While some locations may appear clear, conditions can vary across the community. This decision helps reduce traffic during early morning hours and supports local law enforcement and emergency personnel as they continue public safety operations.

We will continue to work with city, county, and emergency officials to monitor conditions and share updates as needed through official district communication channels.

Families are encouraged to rely on the district website and messaging systems for accurate information.
