Three years ago, Milestones began with a simple vision — to create a place where children could grow, explore, and build the skills they need through meaningful play.

Since then, so much has grown.

More therapists.
More programs.
More families joining our community.
More children reaching milestones we get to celebrate together.

What started as a small idea has become something truly special, and we are so grateful for every family that has trusted us to be part of their child’s journey.

One of the things I’m most grateful for over the past three years is the community that has formed around Milestones.

From occupational therapy and speech therapy sessions to music, yoga, and enrichment groups — every child who walks through our doors reminds us why this work matters.

Milestones has always been about more than therapy. It’s about building confidence, connection, and joy through meaningful experiences.

Three years ago, Milestones began in the smallest little room inside a shared business space.

It wasn’t fancy — just enough room to start.

But even in that tiny space, something special was happening. Children were moving, creating, exploring, and building confidence through meaningful play.

Over the past three years, Milestones has grown into something far bigger than a room or a building. It has become a community of families, therapists, and children learning and growing together.

As we approach our 3-year anniversary on March 15, I’ve been reflecting on how far this little idea has come… and preparing for an exciting next chapter for Milestones.

Parallel Therapy allows children to receive individualized therapy while working within a shared therapeutic space.

What does that look like?

Two children may be in the same room — each working with their own therapist, following their own individualized goals.

Each child maintains:

• Their own therapist
• Their own plan of care
• Their own treatment goals

At the same time, the shared environment allows for:

• Natural peer awareness
• Real-world regulation practice
• Social exposure in a supported setting
• Opportunities to generalize skills beyond a 1:1 space

For some children, this helps bridge the gap between individual therapy and more dynamic group settings.

Big news for Fredericksburg families 💚

Milestones Play Gym & Pediatric Therapy is now officially in-network with Anthem!

We are currently accepting new clients for:

• Occupational Therapy (OT)
• Speech Therapy (ST)

We also continue to support families using out-of-network benefits or private pay, and our team is happy to help you understand your coverage and options.

All services are delivered through The Milestones Method™ — our multi-tier, play-based continuum of care.

This means families don’t have to choose between “therapy” or “nothing.” Children can receive:

• Enrichment groups focused on regulation, motor skills, and social development
• Targeted support within groups when additional scaffolding is needed
• Individual OT and Speech Therapy when medical services are appropriate

Children move between levels as their needs change — all within the same sensory-rich, child-led environment designed to meet them where they are and build regulation first.
