Moms & Goal Setting for 2026 🤍

As moms, we’re often taught to set goals that revolve around everyone else.
But 2026 can be different.

Goal setting isn’t about pressure or perfection—it’s about alignment, sustainability, and care.

For moms, meaningful goals:
• Honor your season of motherhood
• Support your mental, emotional, and physical health
• Create growth without burnout
• Leave room for rest, joy, and flexibility

2026 Mom Goals Might Look Like:
✨ Prioritizing mental health without guilt
✨ Creating routines that support—not drain—you
✨ Setting boundaries around time, energy, and expectations
✨ Choosing progress over perfection

Pay attention to the signs. You know if something is not right. Seek care.

🫀 Signs & Symptoms to Know

Your body has ways of letting you know when something isn’t right.

Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM) can show up during late pregnancy or in the months after birth. Symptoms can be subtle at first and are often mistaken for normal postpartum changes.

✨ Common signs include:
• Shortness of breath
• Swelling in the legs, feet, or abdomen
• Fatigue that feels different or worsens
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat
• Trouble breathing when lying flat
• Sudden weight gain from fluid

💬 Heart sisters: if you experienced different or unusual symptoms that aren’t listed here, we invite you to share in the comments. Your experience may help someone else recognize the signs sooner.

We also want to gently remind our community: sometimes a BNP blood test alone does not tell the full story. BNP levels can be inaccurate or appear “normal” for some PPCM moms.

If symptoms persist or something doesn’t feel right, an echocardiogram can be lifesaving and is often needed to be sure.

🌧️ Seasonal Depression Is Real 💛
If you’ve been feeling more tired, unmotivated, or heavy-hearted lately… you’re not alone.
The change in seasons can bring a real shift in mood — and for many people, that looks like seasonal depression creeping in with the darker days.
Here’s your gentle reminder: you’re not lazy. You’re not broken. You’re human — and your body and mind are reacting to real changes in light, rhythm, and energy.

☀️ Get outside for a few minutes of daylight each morning — even a short walk can help.

November is Prematurity Awareness Month — and this one is close to my heart. I was born a premature baby. My dad still tells stories about those early days — how he’d visit me after work, talk to me through the incubator, and hold my tiny hand. He says the day he finally got to take me home was one of the happiest of his life. 💕

Every preemie and every parent in the NICU carries a story of strength, love, and resilience. Let’s honor them, support them, and continue spreading awareness. 💪🏽👶🏽💜

Pregnancy should be a time of love, care, and safety — not fear or harm. Yet far too many women experience abuse while carrying life.

🚨 The reality:
• Around 1 in 6 pregnant women experience abuse during pregnancy — often for the first time.
• Approximately 324,000 pregnant people in the U.S. face domestic violence each year.
• Homicide is a leading cause of death for pregnant and postpartum women, with a 35% higher risk than for non-pregnant peers.
• Abuse increases risks of preterm labor, low birth weight, depression, anxiety, and trauma for both mother and baby.

No one deserves to feel unsafe — especially during pregnancy. 💔

✨ I recently learned the word matrescence — the process of becoming a mother. Just like adolescence, it’s a huge transformation that impacts your body, mind, identity, and relationships. Having a name for this experience feels so validating. Motherhood isn’t just a role, it’s a transition — and it deserves to be honored and supported. 💜

Here’s why it’s important:
• Puts a name to the experience – Many new mothers feel “something is changing” but don’t have the language to describe it. Knowing the term validates that it’s a real, natural process.
• Normalizes the challenges – It highlights that mood swings, identity shifts, and struggles are not failures, but part of the transition into motherhood.
• Reduces shame and isolation – Understanding matrescence can help moms feel less alone and more compassionate toward themselves.
• Encourages support – Partners, families, and communities can better support mothers when they see the transition as significant, not just a brief adjustment.
• Improves mental health awareness – Recognizing matrescence can help distinguish between normal adjustment and when extra support (like counseling) is needed.
