Operation Secret Santa for our FCC Seniors

This holiday season, Freeburg Care Center is asking the community to help a senior experience the joy of Christmas. This project is designed to provide gifts to our facility’s financially challenged residents.

Here’s how you can help:

Visit our Facility:
746 Urbanna Drive, Freeburg

Select an ornament from the tree in the foyer, located in-between the two glass entry ways in the front of the building. Gift suggestions will be listed on the ornament. Ornaments will be available for pick-up beginning Wednesday, November 19th.

Bring the unwrapped gift in a gift bag *with the ornament attached* to Freeburg Care Center. Please have the gifts returned by December 15th.

If you have any questions, please call our facility, 618-539-5856, and ask for Tammy or Lily.

We have some wonderful families at Freeburg Care Center! We love what we do and it shows through each and every employee we have. Here is a letter sent in to show a recent family member's gratitude to our staff. It was our absolute pleasure taking care of Shirley. With her permission we'd like to share it:

Freeburg Care Center,
My Family would like to SINCERELY THANK the staff from the Front Office all the way to the Maintenance Department for your professionalism, compassion, wonderful care and the LOVE you gave my Mom “Squirrelly” Shirley Davis. I looked at a lot of places before I found FCC and once I walked in I knew this was the place I wanted her.
My Mom loved each and every staff member. She was a HAPPY crazy with mood swings that changed without notice. You knew how to handle her moods and always had a daily HUG to make her happy and feel loved again. Your kindness was such a gift to my family knowing she was taken of and loved.
Thank you to your Activities Department! Tammy and Diana along with their TOP Notch team are the heart of FCC. Music was such an important part of Mom’s life and was the Highlight of the activities. There was always something going on to keep residents active and not sitting in empty halls like so many other facilities.
I always say and believe you are TRULY a Care Center !

We would like to thank Hospice of Southern Illinois, INC. and the Freeburg American Legion for helping celebrate our Veterans today. There was the Pledge of Allegiance, flag folding, poems, and certificates handed out. There were a lot of tears being shed.

October 2025 Employee of the Month

Darrik Dayhoff is the Maintenance Director at Freeburg Care Center. He has been employed here since July 19th, 2021. His hometown is New Baden, Illinois. He has six children and four dogs. His favorite things to do outside of work are attending school and going to church. One thing we do not know about Darrik is he graduated college with a 4.0 GPA. His favorite colors are red and black. His favorite TV show is Psych. His dream vacation would be going to Russia. His favorite thing about working at

We had a great time celebrating Halloween. Residents dressed as M & M’s, Five O'clock Somewhere, Too Tired, Father Time and The Spice Girl, to name a few.
The managers dressed as sauces, and staff dressed up, including a photo below as one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish!
We all enjoyed a pumpkin contest, music, games, and an amazing cake that Bessie, our dietary assistant, made. The winning pumpkin was spaghetti and a meatball. 2nd place was “How pumpkin pie is made”.
What a fun day!
