When you're trying to quit smoking, it can feel like you're being pulled in different directions.

One part of you wants to quit.
Another part might feel scared, stressed, or just craving a break.
Another might be asking, “Will we ever have fun again?”

None of these parts are trying to ruin your progress. They’re trying to help you feel better in the only ways they know how even though their strategies may be outdated. Some of them may be using strategies that worked when you were three years old and had no power. Or maybe they're still stuck in middle school (junior high) or high school.

Invite them to share. Listen to them compassion and curiosity. Let them know you heard them so that they don't need to keep shouting.

So we ask:
Who else is sitting at your table?
What are they saying?
What matters most to them?

Read our post about it here.

Bored? Feeling like there’s nothing to hold your interest? Nowhere to put your energy?

Boredom can be a trigger that leads you back to smoking, if you're not mindful. Whether you're in the early days of quitting or have been smoke-free for months or years, boredom can still catch you off guard.

But boredom isn’t just about having nothing to do. It’s often a signal that something is going on, and understanding it can help you stay smokefree.

Psychologists have identified five types of boredom, each with its own feel:

1. Indifferent boredom – Calm, detached, checked out.
2. Calibrating boredom – Wandering thoughts, low engagement.
3. Searching boredom – Restless, scanning for something to do.
4. Reactant boredom – Irritable, frustrated, trapped.
5. Apathetic boredom – Flat, unmotivated, emotionally numb.

These aren’t just moods. They’re signals. Each one points to a basic human need that isn’t being met—like purpose, movement, connection, stimulation, rest, or creativity.

When you used to smoke, ci******es may have given you temporary relief not just from boredom itself, but from the discomfort boredom often brings. Sometimes that discomfort showed up as restlessness, agitation, or feeling stuck with nothing meaningful to do. Smoking wasn’t healthy or productive, but like scrolling or snacking, it felt like you were doing something, and that small, momentary sense of relief was powerful enough to start smoking again.

It's time to notice:

-- What kind of boredom am I feeling right now?

-- What’s the real need underneath it?

-- What can I do right now to meet that need in a way that truly supports me?

You don’t need to fight boredom or avoid it. You just need to listen to it and understand what it’s telling you.

This awareness can help you protect your quit and help you feel whole.

Happy Mother's Day!

A (day late) Mother's Day thought...

In our office, parents and grandparents often say, “I don’t want my kids to see me smoking,” or "My kids won't let me see my grandkids unless I stop smoking."

That love is powerful — but at the end of the day, the decision to become a nonsmoker works way better when you can own it and stop smoking for you.

Because you matter.

Because your health, your peace, your freedom… all of it matters, and it’s all worth it.

And when you quit for you, everyone benefits.

"I don’t even enjoy smoking anymore, but I keep doing it. What's wrong with me?"

If you’ve asked yourself that, you’re not the only one.

You’re not weak. You’re not crazy.
You’re addicted—and addiction doesn't feel good. Smoking is no longer enjoyable. It feels automatic. You just do it. Because that's what you do.

That’s where our laser therapy comes in. It helps boost endorphins, greatly diminishing cravings, sometimes even eliminating them completely! — so your brain isn’t screaming for a cigarette.

When the cravings quiet down, something powerful happens.
You finally have space to focus on the other parts of becoming a nonsmoker such as changing your routines, calming your nervous system, learning to respond instead of react, and reconnecting with the version of you who never needed to smoke in the first place.

Quitting isn’t just about not smoking. It’s about becoming free.

Let us help you get there.

When you first tried smoking, your body and brain were honest with you. You probably coughed, felt dizzy, a little sick, maybe even anxious. You may have even thrown up! That’s because ni****ne is actually a stimulant — it speeds up your heart rate, increases blood pressure, and triggers your “fight-or-flight” response. That's the opposite of calm.

So why does it feel calming now?

Because over time, your body — and brain — adapted to ni****ne. You become dependent on the ni****ne, and now you need it just to feel normal!

Ni****ne is actually a stimulant. Ni****ne triggers your body's stress response; it doesn't relax it. Ni****ne raises your heart rate. Increases your blood pressure. Constricts your blood vessels.

Once you become dependent on the ni****ne you don't notice that because what you're really doing when you take in ni****ne is easing the tension caused by ni****ne withdrawal — not calming real stress.

Over time, your body becomes conditioned. As ni****ne levels drop between ci******es, you start to feel restless, anxious, or irritable. Lighting a cigarette temporarily takes that feeling away. It feels like relief, but it is only ending a discomfort the last cigarette caused.

Smoking doesn’t truly remove stress. It just masks it — for a moment — before bringing it back again.

You deserve better than that cycle. You deserve a deep, lasting sense of peace that doesn’t depend on lighting another cigarette.

Which fork in the road are you going to take?

Please let us know if we can help you on your smokefree journey. We'd be honored to walk the path with you.

New Year, New You? Or… How About New Day?

As the calendar turns, it’s easy to feel the pressure of those big New Year’s resolutions. Quit smoking. Exercise. Eat healthier. While these goals can inspire positive change, they also come with a heavy dose of stress. What if you stumble? What if you’re not “perfect”?

Here’s the thing: You don’t need a date to define your progress. Every single day is a chance to make a positive change. Instead of looking at January 1st as your only fresh start, why not think of today as your opportunity to take a step forward?

- Little choices add up.
- No pressure, no guilt—just progress
- Focus on making today better than yesterday.

If quitting smoking is on your mind, you don’t have to wait for the perfect moment because the perfect moment will never come if you're waiting for something to change. The perfect moment in that paradigm is always a day away. Or next month. When really, the perfect moment is NOW.

Let’s make 2025 the year of everyday victories.

Ready to take that first step? We’re here for you at Center for Laser Therapy.

🚦 H.A.L.T.S.S. – Pause and Take Control! 🚦

H.A.L.T. is a practical reminder for people to pause and assess what their cravings are connected to. It's a gift to give yourself a moment to pause to give yourself a chance to respond rather than react. A moment to breathe. A moment to ask all of your parts what you really want. A chance to give your present and future selves (parts) to listen to each other and have a compassionate conversation with each other.

At Center for Laser Therapy we add two more letters on to the end of H.A.L.T.

Ask yourself:
👉 Am I Hungry?
👉 Am I Angry?
👉 Am I Lonely?
👉 Am I Tired?
👉 Am I Stressed?
👉 Am I Stuck (bored)? (S fit better than B)

Put a post-it note on your cigarette packs, both the front and the back of the package. When you're habitually reaching for a cigarette or taking one out of the pack because you're feeling a craving, ask yourself H.A.L.T.S.S. Ask yourself what's really going on.

If you're still smoking, then you're also talking to the addiction. If you've stopped for a while and the ni****ne is out of your system, then ask yourself, what's really going on with that craving feeling?

Remember, when cravings hit, it’s not just about wanting a cigarette—it’s about what’s happening inside you.

Remember, H.A.L.T.S.S. It's in that pause where you have the space to respond, not react. Breathe.

Add years to your life, and life to your years.

At the Center for Laser Therapy, we use a non-invasive, safe, and relaxing laser treatment for smoking cessation, sugar cessation (simple carbohydrates), and stress reduction.

For smoking and sugar cessation, this treatment significantly diminishes physical cravings so you can get through the withdrawal phase with greater ease and confidence as the ni****ne and sugar leaves your body.

Clients find the sessions extremely relaxing. Some people may feel slightly light-headed or a slight tingle off and on during the treatment, as it spurs the body to release its natural “feel-good” chemicals. Because of the release of these chemicals, we have a treatment for stress reduction, leaving clients relaxed with a general sense of well-being.

Clients feel the difference as soon as they leave our office. The difference can be strong or subtle. Our smoking cessation and sugar busters clients notice their “need” to smoke or eat sweets (or salt) isn’t there. And, if a thought to smoke or eat sweets comes over them, the urge is more of a thought than a physical craving. They trust that within 30 seconds to a few minutes, the feeling will pass. Their anxiety is less, and they feel the well-being that comes along with confidence that they don’t need to smoke or eat those refined sugars.
