Sharing the gifts of Movement & Meditation
There are so many benefits to the practice of yoga. As a child I grew up a dancer and loved to constantly be moving. As an adult I realized the benefits of stillness, mindfulness & Meditation as well. With sharing the gifts of Yoga at Dragonfly we can provide all of the above combined to create a beautiful experience that leaves us feeling more balanced, healthy and strong in Mind, Body & spirit. This is what I aim to share with others and as I struggled to find and acquire a home for Dragonfly I always new in my heart it was worth it!
It was a long road before Dragonfly Yoga studio had a place to call home. There were many years of working long days to keep the dream alive. I would teach yoga in other people’s places in the morning before my full time job and then work 9-5 in stressful environments that went against my well-being. After 5:00 I would run to teach from 6-8pm and get home 9pm to wake up and do it over again and again for years while barley making ends meat. However I would not give up on my dream of sharing what I believe to be an amazing practice that truly helps others along their journey in life not only physically but mentally, emotionally & spiritually as well. Yoga goes beyond the physical and can help in many aspects to improve our attitudes and help release negative thought patterns. Yoga and meditation can give us clarity, calm, and help us to learn more about ourselves if we are ready and willing to do so. It is a guide to really understand and love ourselves a bit more than when we came in.
There were many times I wondered why I continued to keep up this hectic work lifestyle until the moment one of my classes ended and I saw the expressions on my students faces. At that moment in time which was at least ten times per week everything was confirmed. Even still there were plenty of days I was exhausted & wanted to give up I would not. My clients kept me going. Their dedication to their practice is what inspired me and kept me motivated along the way. They encouraged me to continue to go after my vision and dream.
Dragonfly Yoga Studio is an environment and a community where movement, meditation, wellness and self exploration and self care is the basis. It’s a place that we can all go for a little bit of peace, love & light in the world. A place we can take a little time out from the hectic chaos that life sometimes throws at us. It is a safe environment where we can find and learn about ourselves & the peace & joy that lies within. Here you can can relax, without being judged. That is what Dragonfly is about. It is for you. It is for everyone of any size, weight, shape, age, s*x, background. It is not just for people who can bend like pretzels and look perfect in a pose. It’s for those who can’t touch their toes and want to increase not only mobility, strength and flexibility physically but mentally, emotionally, spiritually & energetically as well.
