For our pilot friends out there. Some updates on FAA medical policy from the recent Civil Aviation Medical Association (CAMA) conference last week.
Cardiac - Pilots who are on a Special Issuance Authorizations for cardiac issues requiring annual stress tests will be happy to know that in a change of policy the annual stress tests will NOT be necessary unless deemed so by the treating cardiologist. There is an evaluation sheet that the cardiologist must fill out or address, but annual stress tests will be at their discretion. This applies to all existing Special Issuances.
Color Vision - There have been two computer based color vision tests which have been added to the existing allowed tests. However, there has still been no major change in procedures regarding color testing despite repeated rumors over the last few years.
