This is one of the driest springs that I can remember in NW Florida. I haven't planted alot and it was late. Although, the roses are still doing well.

THIS IS NOT GOOD.
You know I am a beekeeper and there is great reason for concern.
Honeybee deaths have hit record highs in the US, with the unprecedented loss of colonies pushing many beekeepers close to ruin as scientists scramble to identify the main cause of the huge declines. Commercial beekeepers have reported losing more than 60% of their colonies, on average, over the winter, according to an ongoing Project Apis survey that covers more than two-thirds of America’s managed bees.
The loss of bees, both captive and wild, in the US is already starting to limit the supply of some food crops and is reducing the yield of honey.
There are likely many factors causing the decline.
What can you do?
We’ll if you are up to it try beekeeping.
It is an awesome hobby and I’ll help you.
Also, plant bee friendly plants.
Some that are particularly alluring to bees include: Lavender, Sunflowers, Clover, Wildflowers, Borage, Rosemary, Coneflowers, Monarda (bee balm), Blueberries, Black-eyed Susans.
Let your lawn grow with clover a couple months out of the summer.
And DO NOT use nasty chemical pesticides harmful to bees.
There are safer alternatives.
Do your part.

🚨 Wolf Creek Development Phase 1 Meeting Update 🚨

The meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 22nd, regarding the Wolf Creek Development Phase 1 has been TABLED!

Just 34 minutes before quitting time today, I received an email and confirmed via telephone that the meeting has been postponed.

Here’s what I learned:

A recent public comment required the Environmental Planner to revisit the application and the project site. It turns out there's protected habitat on the site that must be preserved. As a result, the developer has requested more time to assess the habitat and possibly redesign a portion of the project. The next proposed meeting date is September 10th at 1:00 PM in Defuniak, but it's up to the Board to honor that request. There's also a chance the meeting could be continued to September 26th.

This is a small victory, but it’s not over yet. The developer will be back, and we need to stay vigilant. Please share this information with any neighbors who were planning to attend the meeting, and let’s keep our community informed and engaged.

We've been farming here in Florida for the past 12 years. It's been alot of hard work with some reward. For me it's been mainly therapeutic. Unfortunately, I thinks it's coming time to stick to mainly herbs, moringa, and a few adaptogens. The weather no longer cooperates and the sun is not normal. Who knows, maybe by next January we will be on track to sell and move to another area. 😬🙄

We have an abundance of flowers and herbs for bees and butterflies planted. Unfortunately, this year we do not have any bees. This is very scary.

Processed our harvested Moringa yesterday. We have trees in several locations throughout the farm. It's amazing what one little seed and a crazy looking tree can produce.

Made a sourdough starter yesterday. I ground my wheat so I had the best flour to start from. Can't wait to make the best artisan sourdough bread!
