The HPV vaccine has been protecting kids from cancer for decades. It's well-researched, widely used, and recommended by pediatricians.

The HPV vaccine is typically given to boys and girls at ages 11–12, but can be started as early as age 9. Contact your child’s pediatrician to see if it’s time for the HPV vaccine.

When severe weather moved through the area a few weeks ago, a school bus stopped at Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport seeking shelter during a tornado warning.

Our team was proud to open our doors and provide a safe place for the students and driver until the storm passed. ❤️

Moments like these remind us that caring for our community goes beyond health care, we’re neighbors helping neighbors when it matters most.

May is National , a critical reminder that recognizing the signs of a stroke and acting quickly can save a life.

A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, depriving brain cells of oxygen. Every minute matters. Rapid treatment can significantly reduce long-term disability and improve outcomes.

This month, take time to educate yourself, check in on loved ones and prioritize your health. Awareness isn’t just knowledge, it’s action that could save a life. 💙

One of the strengths of Freeport is in its ability to collaborate through challenges for the best outcome. When the health and safety of our residents is on the line, the partnership between the private and public sectors is critical.

The City of Freeport IL - City Hall experienced a large water main break on April 6 that caused citywide disruption. While restaurants and other services closed or used bottled water, Mercyhealth Freeport Region clinics couldn't turn away patients or deny critical care to those in their hospital. The City of Freeport went above and beyond to ensure Mercyhealth staff had what they needed to continue to provide care.

"We are grateful for the work that the city and public works department has done to support us during a challenging time, their communication, engagement and follow through is what makes this such a great place to work," said Mercyhealth Chief Operating Officer Kara Sankey.

Freeport and Stephenson County benefit when our businesses and government partners are consistently and effortlessly in sync.
