Did you know diabetes is the leading cause of preventable blindness in adults aged 20 to 74?
Missing regular eye exams can put your vision at serious risk—especially if you have diabetes. Around one in three Americans with diabetes already show signs of diabetic retinopathy, often without early warning signs. Once vision loss begins, it’s usually irreversible.
This short video from the Eye Centers of Northwest Ohio (just 50 seconds!) highlights why yearly dilated eye exams are critical for early detection and prevention. Sadly, less than two-thirds of people with diabetes undergo these essential checkups—and rates are even lower among young people.
