Here is one for the busy working momma's!

This is our amazing client, Ashley!
She is not only the MANAGER of the ICU, but a rockstar mommy and client.

She began her journey back in December and hasn't paused to look back!

We are so proud of the way she has attacked the process and remained consisted. There is always a an undeniable level of respect when life gives a client endless excuses but hey choose not to use them.

While we do incorporate all of our fun foods, whole foods are so important to our diets and overall health.

Here at Fitness Liberty, we encourage our clients to eat at least 80% of total calories from whole foods.

Unpopular truth: Most people don't have a weight loss problem. Most people have a weight MANAGEMENT problem.

Many Americans cycle through gaining and losing the same 20-50 pounds for their entire adult lives.

If you aren't careful, it's easy to jump from one fad diet to the next, lose a bunch of weight, find it isn't sustainable to continue the extreme approach and THEN go back to your old ways and find yourself right back where you started...or heavier.

The skill is learning how to enjoy the process in a way that keeps you fulfilled all the way back to maintenance.

By that time, you have built such strong systems and structures around food that your old way of eating is of the past and all the new habits you have learned along the way continue to serve you for the rest of your life!

This is a prime example of why the scale doesn’t tell the whole story!

This client is weighing in at the SAME weight in both pictures!

Remember that the number between our toes can fluctuate due to fluid shifts, glycogen stores, needing to p**p etc.

We can’t always take these numbers at face value. It is so important to remember that during any body composition journey!

These pictures are at close to the SAME number on the scale.
And that's on women lifting weight!

What an amazing illustration but by our client, Amy!

She obviously has been working hard and staying consistent towards showing up for herself.

What would have happened if she ONLY payed attention to her scale?
She would have felt like a failure.
And she is very obviously NOT that!

These body recomps always serve as a powerful reminder that we need to look at many different metrics to accurately measure our success.

So much more goes into growth that that darn scale reading.

Thank you so much Coach Jake and Amy for showing us some powerful social proof that we all need sometimes!

How many nickels would you have if you got a new one every time you heard someone say "metabolism?"

We praise it in the thin and curse it in the overweight.
We write about it.
Talk about it
Tweet about it.

But what exactly IS metabolism?

Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. Several different factors make up your resting metabolism such as body weight, height, age and gender.

In this graphic we see (approximately) how our total daily expenditure is broken down.

Thermic effect of food (5%)
Non activity thermogenesis (20%)
Exercise activity thermogenesis (10%)
Basal metabolic rate (+/- 65%)

It is obvious that the quickest way to speed up your resting metabolism is by increasing your basal metabolic rate and your non activity thermogenesis. We can cover our bases here by carrying as much muscle as possible and moving our bodies in ways outside of our workouts.

“I just don’t have time”

What a fancy way to say that you won’t choose to make yourself a priority.

We all deserve to be chosen in this life, most importantly by ourselves!

Don’t be afraid to create boundaries around yourself and your time. At the end of the day, that is our most valuable currency!

Enjoy the swipes for some east ways to take your time back. If we don’t make the time, life will always find a way to take it from us.
