🐰 Meet Luna

Luna’s owner, Lidia, shared this photo with us—and it was too good not to pass along.
Between the ears and that expression, Luna makes a strong case for the “cutest bunny” title.

We always enjoy seeing our patients outside the hospital and getting a glimpse of their personalities like this.

🦠 May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month
With California’s mild climate, ticks can be active year-round—especially as pets spend more time outdoors in the spring.

Lyme disease is transmitted through tick bites and can lead to serious health issues if left untreated, making prevention especially important. Routine wellness visits, tick prevention, and regular checks after outdoor activity all play a key role in keeping pets protected.

A Longtime Central Family!
Julie has trusted Central Veterinary Hospital with her dogs for years — and we’re honored to share her crew with our community. 💙

Biggie has been coming to Central since 2014 and recently celebrated his 12th birthday. For over a decade, Dr. Dunlap and Dr. Bruno have helped care for him through every stage of life. And here’s a fun piece of trivia — Biggie’s great-great-grandfather was the original white bull terrier featured in the Target commercials in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Bella joined the family in 2018 and just turned 8. Samantha, rescued from the Fremont shelter in 2014, has been part of the Central family since she was under a year old and celebrated her 12th birthday in October 2025. Zoey, the youngest, joined in 2021 and recently turned 5.

Over the years, Dr. Dunlap and Dr. Bruno have had the privilege of caring for each of them — from puppy visits to senior care. Samantha was brought home to be Biggie’s best friend, and Zoey continues the tradition of loving everyone she meets.

Caring for families who trust us with multiple pets over many years is one of the greatest privileges of what we do.
Thank you, Julie, for allowing us to be part of their journey. 🐾

What’s Your Pet’s Nickname?

They may be officially named something like “Sir Winston.”
But at home… it’s probably “Winnie.” 😄

Every pet has an official name — and then the name they actually answer to. What’s your pet’s real name and their most-used nickname? Drop them in the comments below. We can’t wait to see them!

Little paws. Big future!

National Puppy Day is the perfect reminder that the first few months of life lay the foundation for years of health and happiness.
Your puppy’s first veterinary visit is about more than vaccines. It’s when we:
• Perform a comprehensive nose-to-tail exam
• Start a safe vaccination schedule
• Discuss parasite prevention
• Review nutrition and growth milestones
• Answer all your new-puppy questions

At Central Veterinary Hospital, we believe early preventive care sets the stage for a lifetime of wellness.
If you’ve recently welcomed a puppy into your home, we’d love to meet them. Call us to schedule their first appointment and start their journey off right. 🐶

When you find veterinary care you trust, you stick with them and we're extremely grateful for those who do!

Otto has brought his dogs to Central Veterinary Hospital since 2000 — with Dr. Dunlap caring for each one along the way. Now Posey (11) and Maverick (1.5) continue that tradition. We’re honored to care for pets through every stage of life — from playful beginnings to peaceful fireside evenings. 🐾✨

Thank you for being part of the Central family for over two decades and allowing us to share your story here.

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Don’t forget to move your clocks forward one hour before bed Saturday night — and give your pets a little grace while they adjust.

Just like us, dogs and cats can feel the shift in routine. Meal times, medication schedules, and breaks may feel “off” for a few days. Gradually adjusting feeding and walk times by 10–15 minutes can help make the transition smoother.

At Central Veterinary Hospital, we’re here to help keep your pet’s routine — and health — on track all year long.

What’s in your pet’s wellness kit?

Preventive care goes beyond the vet visit—it’s all about the little things we do every day to keep our pets happy and healthy. Think:
✅ Dog/Cat friendly tooth brushes
✅ Heartworm preventatives
✅ Monthly flea/tick meds
✅ A cozy spot to rest
✅ A favorite toy for mental stimulation!

What’s one must-have item your pet can’t live without? Share it with us in the comments. These are some of our favorite recommendations!
