Consult with a pediatric Occupational Therapist regarding safe ways to help regulate your baby’s nervous system.

Why Movement Helps Regulate the Nervous System:

Vestibular Input: Movement engages the vestibular system (responsible for balance and spatial orientation), which has strong connections to the autonomic nervous system and can shift a baby from a fight-or-flight state to a calmer, more organized state.

Proprioceptive Feedback: Creates a sense of body awareness and security, which can reduce stress responses.

Rhythmic Predictability: Repetitive motions can mimic soothing experiences, like those experienced in the womb, which are inherently calming.

Occupational therapists tailor movement strategies based on the baby’s specific sensory profile, developmental needs, and tolerance levels. These approaches are particularly effective for babies with oral restrictions,torticollis, or other challenges, as they address coping strategies and resiliency.
