Recently, our team had the opportunity to attend the 11th annual Central Valley Women’s Stand Up event.

This community outreach gathering connects veterans and their families with vital resources, including healthcare, housing support, employment services, and counseling, all in one welcoming space. They also create meaningful opportunities for connection and conversation.

For many, beginning clinical counseling can feel intimidating. Events like these allow us to share about our services, answer questions, and remind veterans and their families that support is available.

Thank you Central Valley Veterans for having us.

We are honored to share that we are now part of the Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network. 🇺🇸

This means veterans who are enrolled in VA health care can receive counseling at the Resiliency Center. It is a privilege to serve the men and women who have served our country, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. For more details, give our office a call at (559) 492-2086!

During his years in law enforcement, Rodney Lowery responded to calls across Fresno where he would meet children and adults often experiencing the most traumatic days of their lives.

Then, the officers and first responders would leave the scene. Children would have to return to school and adults back to work the next day as though nothing happened.

But… what if there was a way to identify these individuals and help them access early intervention counseling and mental health resources shortly after the traumatic event took place?

What if they didn’t have to wait decades to begin processing these painful experiences?

What if they were equipped with tools from a young age to respond to challenges with resilience, instead of turning to other harmful coping behaviors?

Thus, the mission for the Resiliency Center was born.

Our vision at the Resiliency Center?

To provide counseling, early intervention, and education for kids, veterans, and first responders — helping Fresno become one of the most resilient, emotionally healthy communities in the country.

We love this community and are committed to helping our neighbors heal from trauma, respond with strength, and create a better future for the next generation!

A glimpse of our recent R.I.S.E. Coaches meeting!

R.I.S.E. is the Resiliency Center’s volunteer-led program connecting Resiliency Coaches with first grade classrooms across Fresno Unified School District with the goal of teaching kids how to respond to life’s difficulties with resilience.

Resiliency Coaches serve about 2,700 kids weekly in 38 schools! They volunteer 2-4 hours one day each week during the school year, delivering 30-minute prepared lessons to first graders on topics such as:

* Being in charge of emotions
* Persevering through challenges
* Empathizing with others
* Practicing optimism
* Believing in self-worth
* Analyzing the cause of problems

These are the skills helping young people handle stress, navigate challenges, and grow into emotionally healthy adults.

Today isn't just , it's your day to turn passion into progress!

Fresno County alone is home to approximately 50,000 veterans, many of which could benefit from professional and compassionate mental health services. Despite this need, barriers such as out of network insurance coverage and financial hardship are still present.

Our goal: Please help us raise $10,000 for our Veteran & Family Care Scholarship Fund! With your help, we'd like to ensure that every veteran, spouse, and child receives the care they deserve.

The goal of the grant is to increase access to mental health services for veterans and their families, and the Resiliency Center covers the Central Valley—including the Stanislaus, Mariposa, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and Kern counties!

If you are a veteran, spouse of a veteran, or child of a veteran seeking mental health counseling availability, please consider giving our Veteran & Family Care Office a call at (559) 492-2086!

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we stand with our community to break the stigma, foster healing, and celebrate the strength it takes to seek support. At the Resiliency Center of Fresno, we believe mental health is a right—not a privilege. 💚
