June 27 is National HIV Testing Day and a reminder that knowing your status is one of the most powerful steps you can take to protect your health and the health of others.

In Kings County, our KITT Project is working to reduce health disparities and increase access to free STI testing and treatment for those who are most impacted. Through education, outreach, and at-home testing resources, the program supports African American communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people who can become pregnant in getting informed, tested, and treated.

HIV is treatable. Testing is free, confidential, and life-saving.

Learn more about the KITT Project and how to access testing at the link in our bio.

Our Project DAD program supports fathers in Fresno and Madera County by focusing on mental health during the perinatal period. As part of our Maternal Wellness Program, Project DAD recognizes that strong fathers help build strong families.

Whether it’s learning to manage stress, navigating the challenges of new parenthood, or simply needing space to be heard, fathers deserve support, too.

Juneteenth marks the day — June 19, 1865 — when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

It is a day of remembrance, but also of resilience. A time to honor the generations who endured, resisted, and rose — and to reflect on the continued work toward racial equity, justice, and health access for Black communities.

California Health Collaborative stands committed to supporting programs and partnerships that uplift, protect, and empower.

Yesterday was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a global call to recognize, prevent, and respond to the mistreatment of older adults. Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect. It often goes unreported and unnoticed, especially when older adults are isolated or without access to consistent care.

Our Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) supports vulnerable, low-income seniors at risk of institutionalization by connecting them with personalized care management and services that allow them to live safely at home.

Protecting older adults means ensuring they are not only safe, but also respected, supported, and connected. Learn more about how MSSP helps safeguard the dignity and independence of our aging population at the link in our bio.

Mental health is a vital part of overall well-being, and supporting it starts with early access, education, and empowerment. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to highlight two impactful programs helping youth build resilience and find their voice.

Young Minds Kings County equips TK–12 students with tools to manage stress, boost emotional regulation, and strengthen their performance in and out of the classroom through evidence-based, school-based mental health services.

The HEAL Project creates space for healing and advocacy among Latinx and Black youth through healing circles, leadership coalitions, art expression, and an annual youth summit focused on equity and social change.

These programs remind us that when we invest in young minds and create space for healing, we nurture stronger futures for all. Visit the link in our bio to learn more.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, yet it is also one of the most preventable. Regular sunscreen use, protective clothing, and early detection through skin checks can significantly reduce risk.

As warmer weather approaches and more time is spent outdoors, this is a timely reminder to prioritize skin health. Pay attention to and discuss with your doctor changes in your skin, including new growths, spots that look different from others, or areas that itch or bleed.

Protecting your skin today helps protect your health for the future.

Diabetes affects more than 38 million people in the U.S. with millions more at risk. While the condition can lead to serious health complications, the good news is that type 2 diabetes is often preventable and manageable with the right tools, support, and lifestyle changes.

April is Defeat Diabetes Month, a time to raise awareness about risk factors, early warning signs, and the importance of prevention through nutrition, physical activity, and regular screenings.

At California Health Collaborative, our Diabetes Education Program (DEP) offers no-cost classes to Fresno County residents living with or at risk for diabetes. Using the DEEP curriculum, participants gain practical knowledge about portion control, physical activity, and long-term self-management to take control of their health.

Defeating diabetes starts with education, empowerment, and access.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are common, often treatable, and, most importantly, preventable. Yet stigma and lack of access to care continue to create serious health disparities across communities.

April is STI Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, break down stigma, and promote access to testing and treatment. At California Health Collaborative, we’re addressing these barriers head-on through the Kings Informed Tested Treated (KITT) Project—a partnership with the Kings County Department of Public Health.

The KITT Project works to reduce STI rates in Kings County by increasing access to free STI testing kits and treatment. Make testing a priority because everyone deserves access to the care and information they need to protect their health.
