Your eyes can distinguish approximately 10 million different colors! Despite being only about an inch across and weighing less than an ounce, they’re one of the most complex organs in your body—working hard every second you're awake.

Usher Syndrome is the most common condition that affects both hearing and vision and can vary in severity depending on the type. It is commonly diagnosed alongside retinitis pigmentosa which is a vision threatening condition. Retinitis pigmentosa can cause progressive night blindness and eventually tunnel vision

There are three main types of Usher Syndrome:
Type 1: Profound hearing loss from birth and progressive vision loss beginning in childhood.
Type 2: Moderate to severe hearing loss and vision loss that typically begins in adolescence.
Type 3: Progressive hearing and vision loss that begins later in life.

Early diagnosis is important to support communication, mobility, and education. Individuals with Usher Syndrome may benefit from hearing aids, cochlear implants, vision aids, and support services that promote independence and well-being. Vision changes associated with Usher syndrome can be diagnosed at routine eye exams.

Migraines can sometimes be accompanied by visual symptoms known as aura. These may include flashing lights, zigzag lines, blind spots, or even temporary vision loss. Not everyone who experiences migraines will have aura, but when it occurs, it typically lasts about 20–60 minutes. These may happen before or during the headache phase.

If visual disturbances are new or change in pattern, it's important to consult a healthcare provider to rule out other conditions, including those related to eye or brain health.
