🩵 I Am Compassionate 🩵

We all walk a completely unique path and each one of us has a story to share. Every month we highlight a different member of our Team, or a life we impacted, so that we may learn more about each other, and how our journeys became one:

__

Name: Michael Barker.

Occupation: Pilot, Farmer.

Length of Care: Since April 12, 2024.

Why Hospice: Mike began care under Compassionate Care Home Health for treatment of pressure sore(s). Despite interventions, Mike demonstrated ongoing decline, including poor wound healing and reduced functional status. Transition to Compassionate Care Hospice was initiated to focus on comfort, symptom management, and quality of life.

Clinicians love me because: Mike has a warm, engaging personality and enjoys meaningful conversation, often sharing fun facts and life experiences. He is welcoming and open-hearted toward those involved in his care, fostering positive and supportive interactions with the clinical team.

Random Facts about me: Mike is known for his big heart and caring nature. He values every connection he makes and enjoys keeping people in his life, building lasting relationships along the way.

-Narriated by Michael’s wife, Donna Barker.

__

Thank you, Michael and Donna, for allowing us to share a little of your story with our community. It is truly an honor to walk alongside patients and families through every season of care with compassion, dignity, and support. 🩵

That moment when we see each other at the office. 🩵
It’s more than work, it’s family.

Hugs that say “I’ve got you.”
Smiles that remind us why we do this.

Because compassion starts within our team, and it flows into every patient and family we serve.

A little behind-the-scenes from our recent leadership team photo shoot. 🩵

This session was created for our upcoming website refresh (and a few other placements you’ll be seeing soon). We’re excited to share a more updated look that reflects who we are and the standard of care we work hard to uphold.

A few leaders couldn’t make it to the shoot, but they’re just as vital to what Compassionate Care is and how we serve. And of course, this is only one part of the picture. Our impact comes from the full team across every department, every role, every day.

New website coming soon.

There’s something powerful about a simple smile.

When people are cared for with respect, patience, and genuine compassion, you can feel the difference, and so can they. Our team shows up with skilled support and a steady presence, so patients and families feel safe, supported, and seen.

It’s Adopt-a-Highway time again. 🩵

Our team got out on Highway 41 for our quarterly cleanup, filled a bunch of bags, and did our part to keep our community clean and cared for.

Compassionate Care is about more than the work we do with patients, it’s about showing up for the places we all call home.

We always lead with heart, in our community, in our offices, and in the homes of the families we serve across California.

Thanks to the Porterville Chamber of Commerce for hosting another great Spring Festival in downtown Porterville. We loved being out there connecting with the community, sharing resources, answering questions, and raffling off a few goodies.

Events like this are a great reminder that care starts with community, and we’re grateful to be part of it. See you next year, Porterville. 💙

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, a reminder that symptoms can start small and support matters.

Some early signs people may notice include tremor at rest, slower movement or stiffness, and changes in balance or walking. Others can include smaller handwriting, speech changes, reduced sense of smell, or sleep/mood changes.

If you’re noticing changes in yourself or a loved one:
✅ track what you’re seeing
✅ talk with your primary doctor
✅ ask if a neurology evaluation makes sense

And if you’re a caregiver, you’re not alone. Support and planning can make a big difference for the whole family.

At Compassionate Care, trust isn’t a slogan. It’s something you can verify. 🩵

We’re proud to meet high standards through recognized accreditations, including ACHC, CHAPCA, and the National Alliance for Care at Home — and we’re committed to transparent, quality care for every patient and family we serve.

If you’re ever choosing a provider for a loved one, here are a few smart ways to confirm you’re working with an established agency:

✅ Check accreditation (ACHC / CHAP / etc.)
✅ Confirm California licensing through the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
✅ Review Medicare/CMS certification + ratings using Medicare Care Compare (when applicable)
✅ Verify community trust by reading Google reviews

We’re honored to serve our community — and grateful for the trust you place in our team.
