🎨 Healing Through Art 💛
We’re so excited to share a few moments from the “Healing through Art” series, introduced by the Pediatric Residents at Valley Children's for the children served by MMC 💫

This creative series helps little ones process their emotions, build confidence, and explore healing in a safe and supportive space.

Art has the power to open hearts and spark healing—one brushstroke at a time.

Thank you to those at Valley Children’s Heathcare for your continued support of survivors and their children.

💛 Happy International Day of Friendship! 💛

Friendship is more than just connection — it’s support, safety, and showing up for one another. Today, we celebrate the power of friendship in healing, in resilience, and in building communities where everyone feels seen and valued.

To all the friends who stand by survivors, offer a listening ear, participate in safety planning, or simply remind someone of their worth — thank you. You make a difference💜

📸 Our team was honored to attend two events earlier this month celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Project First Step - a collaborative project of Fresno County Women Lawyers, Fresno County Bar Association Pro Bono Services Committee, the Marjaree Mason Center, Centro La Familia Advocacy Services, Inc., Central California Legal Services, and California Hmong Advocacy Network!

Thank you to the Fresno City Council for recognizing this milestone with a proclamation during last week’s council meeting, as well as Senator Anna Caballero for your recognition of these tireless efforts.

We’re proud to stand alongside fellow advocates, legal experts, and community leaders committed to building a more just and equitable Central Valley.

Together, we’re working to create safer, stronger communities for all💜

🌿International Self-Care Day 🌿

Today is a reminder that taking care of yourself is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. Whether it’s setting boundaries, taking a quiet moment, reaching out for support, or simply breathing deeply — self-care looks different for everyone, and that’s okay.

At the Marjaree Mason Center, we encourage survivors and our community to make space for healing, rest, and self-compassion — not just today, but every day.

Take care of you. You matter💜

Last week was a truly special moment at the Marjaree Mason Center💜

Our CEO, Nicole Linder, had the honor of giving Debby Ledford a heartfelt tour of our brand-new Isnardi Foundation Building.

Debby is the proud mother of NBA players Robin and Brook Lopez —two incredible athletes with hearts just as big as their talent. Each year, the Lopez family generously donates gift cards to help the families we serve prepare for the back-to-school season. Their kindness brings comfort, dignity, and hope to so many.

Thank you, Debby, Robin & Brook, for sharing your hearts with our community! ✨

✨What an unforgettable day at MMC’s Safe House!

We kicked things off this summer with a foam party in our backyard! Parents, kids, and staff all joined in for an afternoon of bubbles, laughter, and pure fun!

Next, we transitioned into a heartwarming Fourth of July BBQ. It was beautiful to see families sharing a meal, creating memories, and enjoying each other’s company while they heal — together.

Huge thanks to our staff and everyone who helped make this possible! 🙏

About the Marjaree Mason Center

The Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) was founded by the YWCA in 1979 following the death of Marjaree Mason. Marjaree was a successful, loved woman about to graduate from Fresno State at the time her life was tragically taken by her ex-boyfriend. Her death galvanized the Fresno community into taking action to ensure no one would suffer the same fate. For over 40 years, the Center has served as Fresno County’s only dedicated provider of domestic violence shelter and support services, including education for victims and youth. At MMC, we support and empower adults and their children affected by domestic violence while also striving to prevent and end the cycle of abuse through education and advocacy. We hope that one day our services are no longer necessary in our community.
