UCP of Central California UCP Central California provides services to over 1,100 children and adults with disabilities.

UCP of Central California was founded by a group of parents of children with disabilities in the early 1950's. On November 1st 1954, UCP of Central California was incorporated and became an affiliate of the United Cerebral Palsy Association. From a single program of 10 to 15 adults and children with disabilities in 1954, UCP of Central California's program services have expanded to include six programs serving over 400 individuals and their families every day throughout the Central Valley.

Disability Pride Month is more than a celebration—it’s a call to listen, learn, and lead with love. Whether you’re showing up in big or small ways, allyship matters.

This post shares 20 simple, everyday ways to stand in solidarity with the disability community—from language to access to design.

We used colors from the Disability Pride Flag throughout this post to honor the strength, diversity, and history of the community:

👩🏽‍🦼♿️ UCP+ Disability Pride Month began as a celebration in 1990, the same year the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed. The first official observance was in July 2015, marking the ADA’s 25th anniversary.

The Disability Pride flag is rich with meaning:

🐎 UCP+ Camp Mountain High: Wild West Slideshow 🤠
Saddle up and take a look back at the unforgettable memories made at UCP+ Camp Mountain High! Our incredible students lived their best lives at camp, where the theme was The Wild West! 🤠
📸 They posed in sepia-toned old-timey portraits, dressed in cowboy hats, boots, and bandanas, and shared laughter, creativity, and friendship every step of the way.
From bonding with friends to embracing every moment of adventure, our students showed once again that disability doesn’t define dreams — it unlocks potential.

🚧 Join us for an exciting behind-the-scenes tour with UCP+ Executive Director Roger Slingerman as he shares the latest renovation update from our future campus at 2044 East Nees Avenue set for completion goal of December 2025! 🚧✨
👷🏻 Roger walks us through key phases of construction, including wall framing, sheetrock installation, fresh painting, and development of ceilings and flooring. He also highlights major additions like a new elevator with modern electrical controls, fire safety doors, a roll-up garage door to enhance our eating area, and a commercial kitchen pass-through that will serve a future ☕ coffee shop and student store.
🚧 Additional upgrades include accent wall colors in program rooms, fencing around the new outdoor patio, and secure gates to protect UCP+ buses.
Each enhancement is designed to elevate the quality of life, safety, and programming for our students and the community
we serve.
🚧 This renovation is more than just a construction project it’s a vision coming to life.
