The Duality Between Rebellion & Restoration On August 9, 2025 the sky glows with an Aquarius‑ruled Full Moon where the culmination of light and shadow moves us into a wildly rebellious awakening. It is particularly activating the tension between our individual light of personal spirit and our feeling and life where are are part of collective belonging. Beneath this lunar canopy, six major astral bodies continue to move in retrograde (Chiron, Neptune, Saturn, Pluto, Mercury, and Pallas). The cosmos is holding a brilliant signal of light that urges us to slow our pace and with consciousness of our situation, step out of the cycles of speed and the feeling of intense urgency, external performance, and expectations of others and ourselves.

Each June in the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun appears to pause ~ to hover at the peak of its ascent. This is the Summer Solstice, the sacred turning point of the solar year. Often called midsummer, it brings the longest day and shortest night, a moment when sunlight reigns supreme.
But here’s the subtle truth: while many speak of the solstice as a day, it’s actually a precise astronomical moment ~ the instant the Earth’s North Pole is tilted most directly toward the Sun.
Astronomically, the solstice occurs at 03:42 BST on Saturday, 21 June 2025, when the tilt of the Earth’s axis reaches its maximum inclination toward the Sun. In the US the Solstice is June 20th.

This solstice is marked by the Sun’s entry into 0° Cancer, which happens the same day ~ a symbolic threshold marking the beginning of Cancer season and the energetic shift toward nourishment, inner life, and emotional wisdom.

The earth spins on its axis once every 24 hours, giving us night and day. That axis is tilted 23.44° relative to its orbit around the Sun. This tilt causes seasons as one hemisphere leans closer to the Sun than farther away. In June the Summer Solstice, the Northern Hemisphere is closest to the sun & 6 months later in December things reverse and the Southern Hemisphere basks in its midsummer sun.

The cosmic dance between light and dark, tilt and turn, is the powerful rhythm that governs all things, harvests & rituals, our internal clocks and life on earth.

The word solstice comes from the Latin solstitium, meaning “Sun stands Still”

For a brief time it truly does, the sun’s apparent northward journey halts, before it begins to reverse, slowly descending once more toward the southern skies.

For many of the ancient tribes and religions this was not a calendar event it was a portal of power.

At Stonehenge the stones are aligned to catch the rising solstice Sun, a moment of reverence still celebrated today.

Chichén Itzá where the great pyramid casts the illusion of a serpent as shadow meets light.

Across Europe flowers, fire and fertility rites mark this ancient alignment.

In the Southern Hemisphere where June marks winter, this day is about inviting the Sun’s return, echoing earlier associations with midwinter festivals celebrated since the 4th century.

Deep within us we have an internal clock that synchs with the movements of the universe. Even with the modern day lights that run 24/ 7 we remember on a cellular level the true time of light.

Our bodies, our dreams, our longings synch to celestial rhythms.

In this moment of pause we have a sacred moment to reflect on what is coming to fruition, what can we shine our pure light on to honor and empower in this life.

Cancer is ruled by the moon, a time of inner emotional powers and fragility at the same time.
