🔥 🧄 Fire Cider Crafting Class 🧄 🔥

From the moment it touches your lips, it sends a quiver down your spine, and a warm tingling radiates from deep within all the way to your extremities.

No, I’m not talking about tequila shots...

I’m talkin’ Fire Cider, an herbal tonic deeply rooted in traditional medicine.

This spicy creation has been traditionally consumed to ward off sore throats, colds, flu, and chest congestion, as well as to promote circulation, which aids our bodies in detoxification and warms us up during the cold months.

We use Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother) as the base and then add warming, immune-boosting, circulatory-enhancing, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral foods and herbs.

With love and just a little time, the medicinal properties are extracted into the vinegar!

In my class, we discuss the benefits of each ingredient offered, their applications, and how to make your own Fire Cider at home.

I’m offering two classes this summer, where people can join in person or online:
Saturday, July 26th or Saturday, August 16th
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Location: Luminous Studio, 100 Front Street, Friday Harbor
Cost: $55 in person (all supplies included), or $20 online (emailed a list of supplies needed)

Join me as we tantalize your senses and empower you to craft your own herbal medicine for year-round use.

📣 It’s here!! Are you ready?! 📣
I’m THRILLED to announce will be offering detox-compliant meals available for purchase on her website.
Cause some days (or many days..) we really just want to take a break from chopping and it sure is nice to have someone else make a meal for you.
Also, her food is just gosh darn delicious.
So, what is my Winter Detox all about?
I hesitate to even use the word ‘detox’ because it suggests a temporary solution.
The goal of my detox is to make LONG TERM changes to your health and habits. To take dietary or lifestyle changes you made during the detox and adopt them to your daily routine.
There are three phases to the program:
Phase 1: Prep phase - a few days to ease into it.
Phase 2: Detox - we basically remove common allergens and gut irritants and focus on reducing inflammation.
Phase 3: Reintroduction - gradually bringing food groups back in to learn what foods our bodies prefer and find the best diet for YOU.
This season, we highlight warming dishes and foods that support gut health and detoxification. YUMMY.
How long is it?
It’s really up to you! But the average detox is 21 days.
Many opt to extend Phase 2 and some choose not to reintroduce certain foods or food groups.
Detoxers have reported experiencing the following benefits:
✨MUCH better sleep
✨Reduced cravings
✨More energy
✨Improved body confidence
✨Better skin (smaller pores, reduced eczema, etc.)
✨Better mood (and reduced anxiety)
✨Less to no joint pain
✨Reduced inflammation
✨Improved biomarkers such as blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure

Digestive Bitters Workshop this Friday!!

This Friday, December 13th (spooooky!) join us, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Luminous Studio, Friday Harbor

There’s limited seating so save your seat today at nativezest.com/product/bitters-class/

Did you know you have bitter receptors lining your gastrointestinal tract?!

YUM!

Think of taste receptors found on your tongue - sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami.

When you eat a food with one or more of these, the receptors are activated which in turn trigger a cascade of activities in the body.

Bitter is unique in that our entire GI tract is lined with bitter receptors (these are not all taste receptors luckily ;) ).

When you consume bitter foods, the bitter receptors are activated and stimulate our digestive organs - pancreas, liver, and gallbladder.

Like going to the gym - regular, consistent stimulation is best for optimal organ function.

Little bits of bitter foods throughout the day will keep those sexy digestive juices flowing freely.

How does this benefit your health?:

Improved immune system function
Reduce appetite and consumption
Lower cholesterol
Lower blood sugar levels
Ease indigestion, heartburn, bloating, and stomach upset
Improve digestion
Reduce inflammation (through liver’s increased ability to flush inflammatory compounds)

The benefits of bitters extend to your overall health!
