This week we held an Employee and Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on our hospital lawn. Staff, their family/significant others and volunteers (foundation, partners and hospital) came together to enjoy great food, Melvin the Moo Truck (ice cream), fun activities, and a chance to connect with colleagues and friends.

Congratulations to Casey Wegner, axe throwing champion, who won a $25 gift certificate and a trophy to commemorate her achievement. 🙂

Those attending had an opportunity to win prizes through participating in games and prize drawings ranging from items to gift certificates. Thank you to our activities committee, nutrition services staff, Frank and Aaron for grilling and maintenance for assistance with this event.

Today our hospital and clinics in Friendship raised over $248 for breast cancer research and programs for Steppin' Out in Pink - Gundersen Medical Foundation through an employee breakfast fundraiser.

Are you grieving the loss of a spouse, child, grandparent, sibling, friend or other loved one? "Working Through Grief" is a free, six-week educational program that meets every Thursday starting Thursday, Sept. 11 - Oct. 16. Registration is required.

The program was developed by Emplify Health by Gundersen's Resolve Through Sharing department, a national and international leader in grief education. It is a facilitated program that provides participants an opportunity to explore the grieving process, learn coping strategies and connect with others who have faced the challenges of losing someone. Happy Labor Day! In recognition of the holiday, our clinic in Westfield and our clinics and pharmacy in Friendship are closed today. Urgent care, located in our emergency department in Friendship, is available expanded hours today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Dr. Rayan Lungba, new family medicine physician at Emplify Health by Gundersen Friendship Clinic, made some additional visits in the community yesterday. She visited Adams County Health & Human Services Division of Public Health, Adams-Friendship Area School District, Faith in Action of Adams County WI, Noble Clinics and toured the downtown including a stop at one of the local businesses, Bloom Fusion Farmer’s Collective.
