Each participant is paired with 1-2 volunteer instructors based on their needs. The program uses the game of tennis to address gross and small-motor skills, hand-eye coordination, communications, social skills, and self-esteem.

How can I help my kids put two words together?

Add a word to what theyโ€™re already saying!

If your child is mostly saying nouns, think about describing what the noun is ๐๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ , what the noun ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐ž, or ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ž the noun is going!

This will help you create the following types of word combinations:

๐Ÿ“ŒNoun + Adjective

Your therapist might be employing a strategy where they add one word to what your child is already saying!

Repeating what your child says and adding one word can help to:

We love to use pauses in play and linguistic routines.

These pauses help to build our kidsโ€™ language abilities and become more independent communicators. And you can use them too!

Using purposeful pauses in the home can be as simple as:

โธ๏ธ Saying, โ€œReady, setโ€ฆ?โ€ and waiting for 3-5 seconds before saying โ€œGO!!!โ€
โธ๏ธ Showing your toddler how to stack blocks and waiting 3-5 seconds to see if theyโ€™ll add to the tower on their own
โธ๏ธ Singing Old McDonald - โ€œAnd on that farm he had a cow. E-I-E-Iโ€ฆ?โ€ Pause for 3-5 seconds and see if your kiddo will fill in the โ€œOโ€!

How can pausing help my child's language development?

An expectant pause is when we as adults ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐š๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐š๐ข๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐š ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐จ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐š๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž.

Our Story

Our speech therapists or feeding therapists provide phone consultations with new family members before enrolling their child in our speech therapy or feeding therapy programs. Our speech therapy specialists or feeding therapy specialists provide our clientโ€™s families with personalized treatment plans for review and agreement prior to beginning therapy. Our speech pathologists encourage parents to watch their child during our speech therapy or feeding therapy sessions - whether therapy is held at our Frisco or McKinney clinics or through our online TeleHealth speech therapy services from your home. For busy parents who can't arrange therapy during the week, we have Saturday appointments available. A therapy summary is given to our clientโ€™s family after their child's treatment sessions by our SLP's. When their child reaches the goals of their treatment plan, our SLP's discuss their child's results with their family as well as possible continuing support that can be provided by the family Frisco Feeding & Speech Therapy focuses on highly effective communication with our clients, their families and caregivers. We offer speech therapy support in Spanish as well as in English.
