Myths vs. Facts: AAC edition ✨🗣️

🚫 Myth: AAC delays speech
✅ Fact: Research shows AAC can support and even increase spoken language when it’s part of intervention

🚫 Myth: Kids can be too young for AAC
✅ Fact: There is no minimum age for AAC—communication starts from day one

🚫 Myth: You have to start with low-tech AAC
✅ Fact: The best AAC system is the one that meets the child’s communication needs, not a “step-by-step” rule

🚫 Myth: AAC is too complex
✅ Fact: AAC is language, and kids learn it the same way they learn spoken language—through modeling, repetition, and meaningful interaction

Our Story

Our speech therapists or feeding therapists provide phone consultations with new family members before enrolling their child in our speech therapy or feeding therapy programs. Our speech therapy specialists or feeding therapy specialists provide our client’s families with personalized treatment plans for review and agreement prior to beginning therapy. Our speech pathologists encourage parents to watch their child during our speech therapy or feeding therapy sessions - whether therapy is held at our Frisco or McKinney clinics or through our online TeleHealth speech therapy services from your home. For busy parents who can't arrange therapy during the week, we have Saturday appointments available. A therapy summary is given to our client’s family after their child's treatment sessions by our SLP's. When their child reaches the goals of their treatment plan, our SLP's discuss their child's results with their family as well as possible continuing support that can be provided by the family Frisco Feeding & Speech Therapy focuses on highly effective communication with our clients, their families and caregivers. We offer speech therapy support in Spanish as well as in English.
