For years, I have used many different cues and techniques for teaching clients how to engage their core. The “blueberry” method by far has been the winner!  It teaches the core engagement to occur from the inside out, as it should be! The core by definition is the center most of something. And when you start peeling layers, the center most of you are the muscles that are directly involved with breathing. Too often, fitness videos label the core as your re**us abdominis, obliques or erectors. Even I’ve been guilty of using the term loosely. Ideally however, the core should be properly engaged with any and all exercise. It is incredibly important to not only learn the active components of the core but also maintaining a healthy breathing rhythm in unison. 🩷
